so i have now officially breastfed the girls in public (not counting the doctor's office or friends' houses). and it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. actually, it was kind of liberating - now i feel like i can go out with them & not worry about when their next feeding is. i fed them one at a time and they were both well behaved & patient - i think tandem feeding would be a little too adventurous for me!

I single fed them at a McDonalds. Actually, I gave one the boob anf the other a bottle of EBM.

I also tandem fed them in the car in the grocery store parking lot a couple weeks ago. I guess that was really semi-public.

Awesome! WTG mama! :clapping: I never attempted tandem nursing in public - it would have been impossible for me without the pillow. I've done some single nursing here and there. It is a great feeling, isn't it? AHHH, the portability of boobs! :D

One of the large reasons I loved bfing was not having to take anything with me when we ran out except for 2 diapers and some wipes. And talk about calming a baby, the boob always works!!!!

that's awesome! you know, before i had the babies i always thought, "ew, i'd never bf in public!" but now, after a year of puuumping and dragging around a huge bag with bottles, a cooler of bm, extra formula, my huge pump, FORGET IT. i'm all for bf-ing ANYWHERE! next time around, i'm carrying just a purse with some diapers and wipes!

Way to go! It is definitely liberating! I pump for my twins - but I loved bfing in public with my older DS. Very liberating and very natural! :) It just gets easier and easier once you start bfing in public - each time you feel a little more relaxed!

    Good for you!

I only tandem feed in public on a RARE occasion - I can think of once - we were on a plane, had the whole row to ourselves, and both babies were fussy and couldn't be calmed, so I held one and my DH held the other next to my other breast and all was well. Covered up with a blanket and no one was the wiser.

But I single fed everywhere - it is great! :)

I just did this yesterday! We took them shopping and stayed a little too long...first ds was hungry so I started nursing him in the back seat (sitting between the carseats) in the parking lot...then dd gets going and ds wasn't done, so I managed to cradle hold ds and football hold dd, balancing the rest of her body on her carseat...definitely not comfortable for any of us but it got the job done!

I've tandem fed in the car and on an airplane, but otherwise always single feeding in public. But I don't have any qualms about nursing in public. It was harder at first when it took more work to get them latched, and so I couldn't do it as discreetly. But once they got good at latching themselves, then nursing in public is super easy and most of the time people don't even know you're doing it. I've nursed a baby in my Ergo carrier walking around Old Navy, and in my Mei Tai carrier walking on the beach - my husband didn't even notice I was doing it that time, until I showed him.
