    Hi ladies,
I'm hoping you could give me some insight. I have a gestational carrier that is 20 weeks pregnant today with twins. She started getting braxton hicks a few days ago. She had an appointment with her OB today and she mentioned it, he said it shouldn't be a problem. She said they do go away after drinking or eating. She was having more today. This really makes me worried. She did not get her cervix checked today at her appointment, but will be getting it checked at the Peri's office in 3 days. Should I be concerned? Isn't 20 weeks too early for this?

    Thanks,
    Carisa

I had BH throughout my entire pregnancy. It's very worrisome, but everytime I went to the OB my cervix had never changed. I'm sure alot of it's due to the increased stress that the body is under when carrying multiples.

If the DR wasn't worried, than I wouldn't be too concerned (I know, easier said than done!). Make sure that she is drinking a TON of water, and emptying her bladder often....both dehydration and a full bladder can cause uterine irritability. Also, have her stay off her feet and rest as much as possible. GL!!

I started getting them around 22 weeks, My cervix is still doing great, Its effacing, but no dialation. I do find if I dont drink enough water they are MUCH worse. I have to drink about 8-10 water bottles full a day (16.9fl oz), if I slack at all, I get MAJOR BH's

    Thanks ladies,
I get so worried, I just can't wait until they are here. This process has been so hard on me, not being in control and such....She doesn't like drinking water, so I don't think we could get her to drink very much, I will try though......:(

I started getting them around 20 weeks. As pp said.. if they are less than 4/hr..its nothing to be worried abt. Ice cold water helped me with BH .. and yes drink a lot of water... and don't hold it if there's a need to pee.

I dont drink just plain water either.... I use the Propel flavor packets or the South Beach tide me over strawberry bananna packets to give my water alittle flavor. Plus, when it taste good, I want to drink more! :) Good luck!

I'm hooked on the sugar free pink lemonade, it's so tasty! Adding flavor does help if you get sick/don't like plain water.

That's a great idea. I will suggest drinking other things that are equal to water. She had GD though, so it's hard to find things other than water. Maybe if she puts something like crystal light in it?

There are all kinds of flavor packets out there she could probably use. I hated plain water, too, and had a supply of flavor packets on hand at all times. It does make the water go down better.

    Hi ladies,
Just wanted to let you know that my surrogate had an appointment today with the Peri and her cervix was measuring 4.7 and she is a little over 20 weeks now. At 17 weeks she was 5.5, so it is still holding on strong which I feel good about. She will get it checked again in 4 weeks.
