I posted in another thread how the girls have come down with very yucky poops. I started BRAT and yogurt today going by the advice on the Dr. Sears website. He says to also give yogurt. I'm only halfway through the day, but I'm running out of ways to serve bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, and yogurt. Can you really serve nothing but that? Are saltine crackers or jello OK? I'm not sure what to give them for their snack, I guess more bananas. So far they have been happily eating it.

I would think crackers and jello would be okay. I think too many bananas can cause a tummy ache. Not sure, but it happend with my neice when she was little. When mine had the stomach bug we also gave them crackers and chicken broth. They liked to dip the crackers in the broth.

Easy to digest things. Maybe even some scrambled eggs if they can tolerate it. Small amounts of anything you do are best. Make the bananas into a pudding?

The farther you stray from B R A T the less likely it is to be effective. As long as they are not complaining and eating I would just keep serving it the same way Frozen bananas on a stick. Bananas cut up in yogurt Warm applesauce. Cold applesauce. use cookie cutters to cut shapes with the toast. Rice maybe cook with half water and half chicken broth for more flavor. I would stick with only that for 48-72 hours and then add the things like jello ( with bananas cut up in it) and scrambling eggs into the rice once the rice is cooked ( was always a favorite at our house).

Mine ate super pretzels, jello and crackers also while on the BRAT diet.

Crackers and Jello are fine (Jello will help with fluid). I also give white grape juice during times of yucky poops!! I give full meals of crackers!!! Cheese is also binding!!! Applesauce (not apple juice) will help as well. Apples have pectin and pectin binds. We are really loving the strawberry applesauce (no sugar added) right now!! Maybe save that for after the poopies are gone!

I hope it goes away quickly!!

Also try mashed banana sandwich, apple sauce on toast, apple sauce mixed with yogurt, rice porridge with bananas, rice porridge with apple sauce....any combination of the four. :)
