So, I have found that brands vary a lot and I was wondering if anyone found any brand that runs shorter than others? My kids pants all need to be hemmed, and that is getting old.

Carters runs short and wide in both pants and shirts. Sprockets is short and skinny but only available at Mervyn's.

I find that Children's Place runs short for us. I always have to size up there!

Definitely Carter's. And for Children's Place, it only seems to run shorter for Hannah and not Ben (but then again, he has short legs, so hmmmm.....).

Children's Place definitely always needs hemmed for me. But I will check out Carter's. I have been meaning to hit their outlet store.

I also have found that the boys' things run larger than the girls. Mine are the same size and I could hold a 12 mo. up in boys' and compare it to girls'...and the boys' was much larger!!! I guess girls are supposed to be tiny from the get-go...is that the message we're already sending? LOL They're cut smaller in the sleeves and everything..it's frustrating!

for my girls who are tall for the age, I have found that Carters, and both the Walmart and Target brands to run too short for my girls so perhaps they are good for your kids?

We also have short legged kiddos, and I think Carter's is the best we've found. They still are a little long, but we can get away without hemming them at least.

Actually the pants that fit them the best are Target brand (Circo) girls capris! They fit them as long pants and don't need to be hemmed, but of course the boy-friendly color selection is quite limited.

Bridgeport, I did the capri thing all summer for Izzy and long shorts for Zach :) I haven't found any capris that I thought would work for Zach, as the girl stuff has always tended to have ruffles or flowers or something on it!

I think you guys convinced me to head to the Carter's outlet store this weekend or next. I have two pairs of pants that fit Zach right now, and I don't like doing laundry every freaking day so he always has pants clean!

I'm ALWAYS rolling up my Carter's pants...maybe my boys have freakishly short legs? I have to roll up Children's Place, too, although not nearly as bad. Hmpf.

I just roll them up. I can't imagine actually hemming them (plus then you have to un-hem them when the kids grow!). I try not to buy very loose-legged pants because those are harder to roll up. Also, pants with very stretchy waists/butts are good because you can start by rolling them up, but then when the kids grow taller, they can still fit into the pants at the top.

My kids seem to be very short too -- they're average, percentile-wise, but consistently wear a few sizes behind in pants. They're turned 3 in November and right now fitting very well in 2T sizes. They were in 12-18 month pants until they were 2 years old or even a bit beyond.

Yeah, we found one pair that were just brown t-shirt material, and they wore them all the time as long pants. If they had more boy colors, I would have bought them all!

Yeah, we still have to roll Carter's pants too, but at least we just have to roll maybe once, or they can wear them a little long. They're not so bad that we feel hemming is necessary. So if yours have freakishly short legs, mine do too! Oh, and they also have freakishly long torsos, which makes shirts difficult too. Pants are always too long and shirts are always too short. :pardon:

Me either. That's what grandma's for! ;) The other thing she does in appropriate style pants is put elastic in the bottom cuffs, so they cinch around their ankles rather than drag on the floor. That saves the issue of when they do grow into the length because you haven't actually cut anything off the length - just bunched it up. I'm so lucky to have my mom to do those things - I don't know when I'd find the time or motivation myself.

Oooo the elastic at the bottom is a great idea.

Rolling doesn't work well for me because they always seem to unroll and they start tripping over them and getting super mad about it.

I appreciate this thread--I"ve got some short legged babies, too. My guys are outgrowing the Carters 0-3 shirts, but the 0-3 pants still need to be rolled up. I did find a brand called Precious Moments, and those pants don't need rolled, but I don't know if they make toddler sizes.

All three of my boys have always worn a few sizes behind in pants. I just go with the flow. Of course I don't buy really fancy matching outfits. If I get them as gifts I usually put the shirts on them long before the pants? Especially jeans seem like my guys are a good size behind.

I do like Carters for all in one outfits and they usually are pretty true to age for my short legged boys!! That and in the winter getting multiple pairs of cozy sweatpants or fleece pants - great if they have elastic at bottom.

At 4 yrs my oldest is finally wear the correct size in pants. Too bad I need to get out and buy some 4T's for him the winter. I was depending on him still wearing the too biug 3T's from last winter.

My two are absolute peanuts. I don't even think they are 27" yet. This is exactly why I am dreading winter, pants are way too long!
