I am new to this forum and this whole pregnancy thing, much less the twins pregnancy! Yikes. I am wondering......if this is typical....I am just 7 weeks along, and already cannot fit comfortably in many of my clothes....Is this typical? I just went out and bought a few tops 2 sizes bigger so I can hide for just a bit more.....but my body is changing dramatically already and I have lost my waist.

Also, after doing IUI my ovaries are VERY enlarged, which contributes to some of this....and my doctor seemed quite concerned and asked if I was in pain. Luckily, I am not, but I just feel very bloated. Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks so much for your help!

Congratulations on your Twin Pregnancy and Welcome to TS!! :wavey: I think its perfectly normal that at 7 weeks your clothes are not fitting. You are growing two babies, so be prepared for things to get big quick! Good Luck!

Yep, I was out of my usual clothes by about 6 weeks. I bought some clothes at Goodwill in the next couple of sizes up, or borrowed them from friends, and that got me to about 10 weeks -- then I started wearing maternity.

For me, it wasn't so much the size of the babies (they were still tiny at 6-10 weeks), but the constant eating. I gained 2 lbs a week throughout my entire pregnancy. (I also did IVF, and may have had some bloating or weight gain from that, but I was still in my regular clothes at the end of my IVF cycle, so that wouldn't have accounted for much of it.)

Your doctor is probably concerned about OHSS or some other side effect of the fertility meds, but if you're not in pain, hopefully that's not an issue.

My uterus was already out of my pelvis by about 7 or 8 wks. At 6 wks I remember changing in the locker room for my OB clinical and my friends joking with me, then my instructor walked in and said there's no possible way I was only carrying one baby. I basically told her to back off that conversation before I stomped on her :) I went in 2 wks later with an u/s pic of two babies. I really wanted to stomp on her then, lol.

I was in maternity clothes for comfort around 10 wks, too, I think.

Congratulations! Welcome to the ride of your lifetime ;)

It's totally normal. In fact, I am down to only one or two shirts that actually cover my belly, my maternity shirts from dd don't even cover the bump...even some of my husbands biggest shirts that I used to swim in are getting tight!!!

Hi Wendy, welcome to Twinstuff. :welcome: Congrats on your twin pregnancy.

I was definitely not fitting into some of my clothing at 7-8 weeks, it was also my second pregnancy.

Even at 6 weeks some of my fitted pants were a bit snug and by 9 weeks I was wearing a few maternity things.

My belly was sticking out more than expected even before I knew it was twins. So I started wondering if there was any chance it could be twins even before the first ultrasound.

Yes! I managed to hold off until about 14 weeks in my singleton pregnancy before getting maternity pants, but I was in maternity pants about one second after I found out I was pregnant with twins! It didn't help that my pants were a bit snug from my 10lb weight gain during fertility treatments. Switch to maternity pants and you will be so much happier! Pea in a Pod has these really great unlined, thin, string tanks (expensive, but worth the money - just buy 2 and they will last all pregnancy) that you can wear until your shirts to cover up the top of your maternity pants (before you are ready for maternity shirts, which shouldn't be for a while). I am wearing them even now because my maternity shirts are now to short to cover the top of my maternity pants!

I had IVF, so my ovaries were VERY swollen afterward. I NEVER went back into regular clothes. The double hormones of a twin pregnancy cause your ovaries and abdomen to remain more bloated than if you had just one. About the time the bloating went down (8 weeks), I started showing baby MAJORLY. Get a BellaBand (or a BeBand from Target)...that thing saved me the first trimester!

I had a friend convinced that I had multiples or I was farther along than I was because my pants didn't fit at 6 weeks or so... well, at 7 weeks I went in to get an u/s and lo and behold... 10.5 weeks and 2! So around 8 or 9 weeks I would say I was uncomfortable in my regular clothes (I just waited awhile 'cause I thought you shouldn't NEED maternity clothes that early!)
