Just curious as to how many people out there bought new BPA free bottles after all the talk of dangers... There are so many mixed messages out there, one group saying it's dangerous while the FDA says it's ok... I know my mother tells me all the time "you grew up with all that stuff and you're fine!" Better safe than sorry though, right? Just curious what others think.

We did buy BPA-free. I wanted to get bottles that would help the transitioning back and forth from breast to bottle and we only had a few bottles from when my older DS was a baby (he hated bottles, only wanted to bf) - so I tossed those out - and ordered the Sassy MAM bottles off of Amazon.com. I really like them - and the babies do really well with them, too.

I know that BPA has most likely been in plastics for years and years and years - but I felt like, since I know about it - I wanted to do the safest thing. I couldn't knowingly ignore the warnings, you know?

I did, about 5 months ago, or as soon as I heard about it. I just figured it's a relatively cheap thing we can do to make them healthier (although there weren't many cheap options at the time!).

I just exchanged what I had or was given for BPA free ones at BRU - I am pretty sure they are still doing it. You just have to have all the parts. HTH

a lot of moms say that (as does mine, at times) but the world is completely different now than it was when i was a kid (like, the ozone layer, etc. no one worried about sun screen back in the day, for example). that's what i always tell my mom:)...

as for the bottles, i've been aware of bpa for a few years so i bought all bpa-free bottles to begin w/. i still think it's a good idea to change if you haven't already. there's a great website called safemama.org that has a lot of great info.

    best of luck, jl

I did not return all of my bottles, my girls had been on the BPA bottles for several months when the whole thing first started.

We chucked our old bottles and used the Gerber BPA free that I had been using for my breast pump. I saved a step by not transferring milk. My babies never had gas problems, so this was an easy transition for them. HTH :).

    YES!!

over the last 2 days I have been 2 BRU 2 times to exchage a TON of bottles. Between my 2 trips I was able to walk out of BRU with 160.00 in brand new BPA free bottles. I also got some BM storage bottles and nipples.

We went with the new Sassy MAM and playtex ventaire.

The sales person at BRU almost seemed to be trying to talk me out of buying BPA free. Its In all plastic you know. Well thats fine but I would rather be safe then sorry.

Like PP said can you really just ignore a warning. I could not so they were all switched. its nice to have new bottles again too.

I didn't change out my bottles. Honestly I am not concerned about it. I believe the bottle has to be heated to a ridiculously high temperature for any BPA to be released, and even then it's really small amounts. I honestly feel that BPA is the newest "Catch Phrase" and a way for companies to bring in more money. If the FDA says its fine then what is there to worry about? I have much bigger things to worry about.

I didn't change bottles. We are using the "Deluxe" Playtex Drop-Ins. I'm pretty sure they have BPA in them since they are hard, clear plastic, but since we use liners and the EBM and formula doesn't really come in contact with the plastic, I haven't really worried about it. We also put them in the dishwasher which I think you aren't supposed to do either.

Since your girls are already 9 months old, I wouldn't replace the bottles. Just make sure to handwash them instead of using the dishwasher and do not heat formula in the bottles. This reduces, and according to some people eliminates, the exposure. Then just buy BPA-free sippies.

We were aware of BPA back when the girls were born so we tended to stay away from it as best we could (although it was difficult at times because packages often weren't labeled as BPA-free).

In Canada they recalled all bottles with BPA in them. I needed to buy bottles anyway so I did buy the BPA free bottles - but not really by choice but because that is all we had.
