My boys won't cruise or pull up on anything yet & I am a bit concerned. They turned 1 on Sunday (full-term babies). They haven't 'officially' crawled yet either, although they army crawl & can get from point a to point b in a hurry. It's hard to sometimes not compare my kids to younger babies I see who are doing it like it's nothing. I really do get frustrated. I know they'll develop at their own pace and I do encourage them to cruise around tables and even bribe them with a treat, but still no progress. Their 12 month wellness checkup is Monday and I was wondering if I should bring up the option to put them in an early intervention program?

I would mention it during their 1 year appointment. Josh was not rolling over from back to front at 11 months. EI came in and evaluated both of them and he was delayed. Not sure if it's the same in every state, but there has to be at least at 30% delay. Josh was 32% (At 11 months his gross motor skills was that of a 7 month old). He crawled for the first time on his birthday and now, two months later is cruising, pulling up and trying to stand unassisted.

EI comes out twice a month for an hour each visit. She works with him and gives me a list of exercises to do for the next two weeks. They will work with him until he can walk.

It does not cost anything for them to come out to evaluate them so I would ask your pedi about it if you are concerned.

I would also mention your concerns to your pediatrician. I know it is so hard not to compare them to other babies and I know I had a hard time not comparing my two twinkies. My DD crawled, cruised and walked way before my DS did. I called EI, they did a evaluation on him (by the the time they came out, he started crawling, go figure) and determined he did not need services. There is nothing wrong with having your concerns checked out. Good luck!
PS: My DS started crawling at 10 months, pulling to stand after that (around 11 months or so) and walking soon after. For the longest time he would only take a couple steps and just his past week starting going across the room on his own. So it is a process for some babies and others hit the ground running.

My girls (35 weekers) just started crawling within the past few weeks, they will be 1 next Saturday. One of the girls started pulling herself up on her knees, but neither are able to pull up to stand just yet. We'll talk to our pedi about it, but every time I mention they haven't started doing something she says to contact her in a month if they haven't started...sure enough within the month they started.

    Good luck!

Your boys are pretty big right? I remember from your post at 12 months. I wouldn't worry too much. The heavier they are, the harder it is for them to get around. Nicolas was bigger at 24 lbs at 12 months, and was slower to do this stuff too. I think your boys are even bigger!! I'm sure that is what it is but I'd ask anyway.

    I'm sure it's nothing. :) Keep us posted :)

Yeah, they have to be around the 28lbs mark! I'll find out more details at their wellness checkup on Monday. Thanks for the encouragement ladies!

Some babies just walk late. Jessy didn't walk till 16 months where as Jazz walked at 10 months!

Yeah, I would bring it up to the Ped. I think I would get an evaluation to ease your concerns.

I agree with everyone else to mention it to your pedi. GL and let us know what s/he says.
