Boys Here at 29 weeks

Matthew Elijah and Nathan Michael were born via C-section at 29 weeks gestation at 2:24 pm on Monday, August 27, 2007. Matthew was 2 lb 12 oz and 14.75” long. Nathan was 1 lb 8 oz and 12” long. Mom's blood pressure and protein levels were becoming critical as she had been in the hospital since Friday afternoon for 24 hour urine tests and BP monitoring. We were off to the OR for a quick delivery when we got the reults of the 2nd 24 hour urine test.

Matthew was born first. He cried when delivered and the doctor showed him to us both. Nathan was born second but we did not hear him cry or see him before he was taken away by the nurses. Once Dad was taken out of the OR to the babies there was a team of doctors and nurses working with each one independently. Dad learned that Nathan had to be revived and was more unstable than Matthew and that they were going to both be transferred to NICU as soon as they had a line in each of them and they were stable.

As of today - 9/12, Matthew is currently on CPAP and Nathan on the ventilator. We will have a long NICU stay but they are both growing beautifully and taking mom's breastmilk from tubes. Mom is recovering well and her blood pressure is coming down.

We continue to be amazed by our tiny miracles. See you on the NICU board.

:hug99: They are beautiful!! :wub: I'm sorry they had to come this early! Sounds like they are in good hands and they are watching them close! I hope you are healing well & feeling ok! Keep us updated please!!!! Glad they are getting your milk! That is the best for them! Your milk is so geared towards your precious boys! It's amazing!! Congratulations to everyone. I'm glad you've got a place like TS to support you through the nicu journey and I pray it's as uneventful as can be for Matthew and Nathan.

 

Oh my what tiny little beautiful miracles. I am only a week and a half behind when they were born. Your babies give me so much hope to have healthy little ones. I am so happy to see there sweet little faces. Good luck momma!!! I will be praying for you all!!

 

Congrats on your little ones - I'm going to be thinking of you and them and that they quickly zoom through the NICU!

My guys (Jacob and Nathan) were also born at 29 weeks on 4th of July 2002, they just started Kindergarten this year and are doing awesome!
