Last night was rough - both boys were having a hard time sleeping - especially Luke. When I picked him up, i could tell he was having a hard time breathing. So, I brought him into the bed and had his head elevated, and that seemed to help. Samuel wasn't as bad. is there anything that we can do for them? I put a pillow under the head of Luke's mattress to elevate it a little - I'll see how that goes for the morning nap. Anyone do this? Or any other suggestions?

You can do saline sprays and aspirator and run a humidifier....also, we got this stuff from the natural food store called Olba's Oil - you can put some on a tissue and put it between their sheet and mattress and it helps a bit.

Also, at their age, if you think it might be allergy related, you can try a bit of Benadryll.

We use a humidifier at night, and if it's really bad we elevate the head as well - we'll bring G into the spare bedroom and put her in her car seat to sleep (inside the pack'n'play - and we sleep in the spare bedroom with them). It works well if she's having a hard time breathing. They love their car seats though - if that wouldn't work for yours then elevating the mattress seems like a good idea too.

Also try BabyRub by Vicks. That worked well with S a few weeks ago.

Good luck! I'm impressed it took so long for them to get their first runny nose! (My girls are in day care, so a week without a runny nose is a treat).

Yes, vicks on feet in footed sleepers, steam from the hot shower in the bathroom, saline sprays.. all good suggestions!

 Having sick kids is no fun.

Our pedi said even they don't have congested, we still need to use nasal drop and suck noses daily. We run humidifier and air purifier in the room 24/7.yes, we rub vicks under their feet as well. There is not much we can do though. Hope your little ones feel better soon.

We do saline spray and the blue nose bulb on a regular basis. You would think they would get used to it but I have to wrestle them down each and every time. It is worth it though.

Thanks everybody! So, far elevating the mattress helped - he took a great nap this morning - 2 and 1/2 hours, and now is taking another good nap. Why do you put vicks on the bottom of their feet and not their chest?
