Since my girls came home from the hospital we haven't left home without a headband and bow. Some older people (like my husband's Granny) hate them and say they hurt the girls heads, but I know they don't. The have less hair now than they did at birth, but I'm wanting to just start putting hairbows in their hair instead of big headbands. Does anyone have any tips on how to make the bows stay since the girls don't have lots of hair? My Grandma said she used sugarwater, because it gets stiff. I always put babylotion in their hair when I get them ready and that helps it stay, but when it dries.... that doesn't work any longer.

Thanks to any Mommies of little girls who are bow-lovers too!

they make a "glue' of sort for bald girlies! I have one my self and I like the bows better than the headbands. Sometimes the headbands leave marks on her head, and headbands hurt my head. I buy my glue at a resale shop called Kids-to-kids. They are all over so hopefully you can find it. My mother used to use sugar water as well. I believe the "glue" is some sort of corn syrup mixture.

If you get a dryer sheet and cut off a little piece you can stick it in the clippy to help it stay. That's what the woman who sold me clippies told me, but I never got it to work.

My mom used a drop of elmer's glue on me which I think is hilarious! I know some people now use a little toothpaste or just buy the baby bow adhesive. My DD never leaves home without a bow on either - so glad someone else loves them as much as we do! Also for the headbands (you may use these already) but we had several that were made of a material similiar to little girls' tights. So soft and stretchy and never bothered her. If you have a strasburg children near you they have the best headbands and accessories for little girls.

In the hospital, they brought the girls into the room with little bitty bows on their head, and I asked how they got them to stick, they used lubricant. Like KY Jelly lubricant. I bought some crochet headbands from a lady of different colors, and bought some flowers from hobby lobby. Took the flowers apart and put them back together with a glue gun, and attached them to an alligator clip, which I attach to the headband..Just an idea. I got tired of people asking, "2 boys, boy/girl?" even when they were obviously sitting in pink carseats, etc.

oh, and to brag a little, We went to a festival Saturday, and the headbands were a hit. I will post pics here in a few. Theyre super easy, Im not very crafty to be honest

We have a lot of headbands! We have several of the crocheted ones and the "tight-like" material as well as lots more. We have probably about 50 bows to attach as well. Its just a matter of only wanting to use bows now. :)

    Thanks for suggestions!

If they have some hair the really small pop barretts will work. When mine had no hair I made their headbands out of white panty hose sewed together at the end and then sewed the bow on. Never left a pressure mark or anything.

  10. I found some type of headband at a festival that you can attatch the bow to but I have a prob. with daddy stealing headbands and bows. So I gave up on the bows we use them for pictures and that is it. I think I am goin to have 100% tom-boys.

Someone told me vaseline works to attach bows if you don't have any of the gel-like glue...haven't tried it yet though!
