My twins are about 7 weeks old - born at 33 weeks (I'm not sure how to put their age timeline below my posts yet)

I bottle-feed my girls (breastmilk + enfacare). So far we have used the pumping bottles we received from the hospital; however, they are starting to eat more than those bottles will hold. I'm trying to decide what type of bottles to use - any suggestions? (I do have one daughter that gets gassy easily.)

We Love the playtex drop-ins, in the beginning I used playtex ventaire-oh they were trouble, lots of parts to wash, valves not laying in right, clogged nipples. With the drop-ins, the liners collapse down to cut down on gas, and you only have to wash nipples and rings-thy are BPA free too.

I agree the Playtex Ventaire are a pain in the butt to wash BUT I loved them since they really helped w/ colic. Plus the bottom plastic can be replaced for cheap every so often by buying them at BRU. But if you're babies are very colicky, then I hear Dr Browns are the BEST for that.

we've tried a number of plastic bottles and didn't like them. we started out using medela bottles because i was using a medela pump. i thought i was buying bottles to fit the pump because i didn't realize it's a standard threading and just about any bottle will fit on there. we also tried dr. brown's since so many people swear by them. the dr. brown's bottles didn't make a bit of difference for gas/colic but their nipples are great. in the end we found that the BPA plastic scare made manufacturers rush out BPA-free plastic products and they don't hold up well over time. the medela bottles actually warped from the heat of sterilization. then the caps leaked like crazy and it seemed like every time they were heat sanitized the fit got worse and worse and worse. it was a huge waste of money.

so now we're on glass bottles. no BPA issues, no potential leeching from being heated and cooled, and best of all they never ever ever ever change shape over time or with heat. the rings fit on perfectly every time and we never have leaks anymore. we use evenflo classic glass bottles and rings, and we use dr brown's nipples. the bottles themselves are a great price, which makes buying the separate nipples not so bad. we didn't bother with the evenflo nipples because we could tell the silicone was thicker and wouldn't be as easy to nurse from for our little guys.

edit: for colic we didn't find a specific bottle really did the trick. it really seems to be more about the nipple. if they don't have to work as hard and if air can get back into the bottle without making them work too hard for food, they'll swallow less air and hopefully be less colicky. we saw our biggest improvement when we committed to high quality nipples and found the effect was the same regardless of what bottle we put them in. but colic can also be caused by intestinal spasms, so no bottle or nipple is going to solve colic 100%.

We breastfeed mostly but when they do get a bottle we use the Playtex Drop-Ins and DS likes the Silicone Nipple and DD likes the latex. Funny kids. Not sure about the gassy issue but have heard good things about Dr Browns for that.

I have literally tried every bottle on the market, even the Wal-Mart generics. I have found that Dr. Brown's are the BEST! My girls were also gassy and had reflux. Good luck!

I used Playtex Drop-ins with my first 3 kids, and Dr. Brown's with the twins.

One of my boys just uses the regular Avent bottles, while my other son uses Dr. Brown's. It has a lot of parts to wash but it is effective for gassy babies.

We used DrBrown and switched to Born Free. They're pricey but easier to put formula in and to hold, besides at the time there were no Dr Brown BPA-free anyway. The big plus is that the parts take less room in the dishwasher.

We had used playtex drop ins at first but those didn't seem to work very well for us due to our DD's getting extremely bad gas after each feed. We eventually switched over to Born Free bottles, and they've been great. It seems like they're much easier for our girls to drink from, and less air gets into their system, limiting the gas problems.

We use MAM bottles and we LOVE them. They do have a few parts, as the bottom also screws off with a removable ring, inside. But they are supposed to be really great for BF babies. We were given 2 sets as a shower gift, and we also had the glass bottles too...but my DD was leaking really bad when using the glass, and doing good on the MAM, so we bought more, because it was just easier to always use the same bottle for both, and DS did fine on them too. They are kind of expensive though...as well as the extra nipples, but they are BPA and hold up pretty well, I've found, so far.

We tried them all too. We went from NICU bottles to NUK orthodontic bottles (That was the only one that worked for both. With the BPA stuff now I probably wouldn't make that decision again)., then we went to Gerber Clearview with Dr Browns nipples when they needed big bottles. I already had some of these for pumping and they would take them so we stuck with that.

I use MAM bottles and love them! We tried several different kinds and these are the ones that worked best for us. My babies were 8 weeks early and these were the ones they were able to suck the easiest. I started using them while they were still in the NICU and we've used them every since. The nipple is not just a plain round nipple, so it seems really easy for the babies to latch these with no leaking. They are kind of hard to find though. I think they are on Targets website and at Babies R Us stores (about $12 for a three pack).

We originally used the playtex drop ins but it got too expensive. We switched to Dr Browns, and although theres a little extra washing involved, the babies love them and gas is kept to a minimum. If we ever had another baby, I'd use these again.

    Dr. Brown's.

We registered for a ton of playtex drop-ins because everyone said we would appreciate the less bottle washing time with
    having twins.

We did NOT like them at all. We lasted about a week. We switched to Dr. Brown's and loved them.
It really doesn't take all that much of an effort washing them.
