Ok, I know my kids should be off the bottle by now but they are still getting one in the morning and one at night. My daughter is definitely ready but my son is not a good eater and is on pediasure. They are both still on the small side and I know once I switch them to cups they are not going to drink their milk/pediasure. I also know the longer it goes on, the harder it is going to be to d/c, especially for my son. Neither uses a pacifier so I don’t have that battle to worry about.

My goal is to d/c by the second b-day. Anyone else still on the bottle at this age?

My boys were on bottles until a little after 2. Jackson would have given it up after age 1. Ethan just had the hardest time with giving it up. We did not have to worry about pacifiers either. I have to say I tried to get rid of the bottles several times and it gets harder the longer you wait. Ethan didn't drink much milk for a while when we finally got rid of the bottles. It took about 5 months and now he drinks milk like there is no tomorrow.

It is hard, but I would do it sooner than later. I wish I had. Their teeth are fine -- we brushed before bed -- but bottle rot is another thing to worry about. I know you have to worry about them being on the smaller side so I would talk to your pedi about it before you do. Just my opinion though.

    good luck!

We're not off the bottle here either. One in the morning and one at night. Nefeli has some issues which make it hard for her to drink out of a sippy cup, we're working on it but it's still difficult so she'll continue with the bottle for a little longer. Iris can drink fine out of anything but refuses to do so when it comes to her milk- I guess she sees Nefeli with a bottle and wants one herself so she gets one. I'm sure we'll move on soon enough but I wish we were there already.

    Still have bottles here!

I know they don't need them anymore but I love holding them at night before bed and feeding them! I do the same when they wake up in the morning. I figure if I was breastfeeding I would still be doing it. We tried sippies and they didn't like it and neither did I.

We still had our night bottle at 24 months. We changed it out for a drinkable yougurt with a straw and they had no trouble at all. GOod Luck!

We are still on bottles, especially with our DS (he is on pediasure, too!!)- no plans in the near future to stop it, either. My Ped said it was fine - they won't have one when they are 15, so no worries in my book! My DS doesn't eat well, either.

My lot still had bottles past the age of three. I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you need the peace of mind of your son drinking enough pediasure.

this made me feel better... ;) I have 13 month old b/g twins and they are still on the bottle. :) I am ok with it but read so much about them gettig rid of them at 12 months. I was not worried about it and we are still going on that and on formula. I had so much i thought why not use it and pedi said ditto. :)
They do take a sippy cup for some things but i think they would miss the bottles at night the most.

I drank apple juice out of a bottle until I was 4 years old! And I turned out fine :)

Joking aside, I live in Europe now and everyday see kids 3 and 4 years old drinking out of a bottle. And not just milk before bed but all kinds of things while they are out and about. Over here they just don't make a big deal out of it. So I figure going past 12 months really isn't going to do too much damage.
