Congrats in advance! There are tons of bottles out there. We used Dr. Browns bottles and loved them until reading about bisphenol-A, a hormone disrupting chemical that is contained in hard plastics such as Dr. Browns bottles. Bisphenol-A has been banned in baby bottles in Europe, Canada and Japan, but not in the US. Once we learned of this, we switched to Gerber soft plastic bottles and still use the inserts from the Dr. Browns bottles. The new system works just as well as the old one, and the Gerber bottles are really cheap.

Here's a link to a great website that lists bottles that don't contain bisphenol-A:

I'm using Born Free. Has no BPA in them. Also, in March, Dr. Brown's is coming out w/ BPA free bottles, so I will probably also try those.

I don't like the kind w/ inserts because it uses a lot of plastic and takes up a lot of landfill space.

    hello dear and congrats!

aaaah the bottles, it's something....I did tons of research and it will depend if you would like to go with bpa free bottles....you can google to find which ones are. as far as I know, it would be:

we are also planning on breastfeeding and adding some bottles maybe around 6 weeks, for helpers and especially DH to feed them too. it's difficult to know in advance, you might be lucky and your babies take whatever, just make sure it's the slow flow/newborn nipples.

we will try the good old gerber for the beginning....but we count on going to have to buy a couple different brands in the beginning, until one works.

Gerber is one of the best out there you can buy. Born free and Sassy are also great ones to buy. Playtex nursers are what I plan to use. I like the idea of using the liners, which are also bpa free. The nipples are silicone so they are safe to use as well. One quick recommendation, no matter what bottles you choose to use, do not use them if they become scratched or cloudy as this is weak spots in the plastic and can leak chems into the milk. Also do not use them in the micro (most people already know) or put them in the dishwasher. This was in a parenting article back in September of last year, sorry I don't remember which one, but it also weakens the plastic. This can lead to chems leaking into the milk. The above bottles were also listed as being safe for babies in the article. I guess, it's still good ole' fashion boiling the bottles to sterilize! (Another reason I want to use playtex nursers) I work at a daycare, and let me tell you from experience, use the playtex nursers. It is so much easier to buy a bunch of nipples to get a new one each time, rinse off the bottle and put in a new liner. You can buy liners pretty cheap, and it's worth it when you are trying to feed more than one baby. Lots easier to clean!!!

You can try this article for more info:

We used Avent and really liked them, for all three kids.

My sister used the Dr. Brown's bottles and liked those as well.
