Does anyone know if it is safe or o.k. to wash bottles in the dishwasher. I sometimes wonder about the bottles having soap residue. It certainly IS easier, but want to make sure before I continue.

I've been doing it since the girls were like 3 months old. I got a basket (from Muchkin I think-sold at Target), for the nipples and rings that go on the top rack of the dishwasher. Makes life so much easier to have two days' worth of bottles and run them each evening in the dishwasher.

We handwash our bottles, but about once a week I will throw them in the dishwasher to sanitize them (I figure the water gets hotter and the heated dry is really hot). I personally think it's easier to handwash them, but that's just me.

I alternate between handwashing and dishwashing depending on my mood but I always just run them under the faucet after they come out of the dishwasher to get rid of any lingering residue!

Our dishwasher has a "Sanitizing" cycle....we use that cycle, it is a lifesaver and we have clean sanitized bottles ready to go every day. If you can see residue on your glasses etc, you need to get some Jet Dry, stuff works great!

I never used the dishwasher w/ Berkley but used it exclusively w/ the boys!

We always washed ours in the dishwasher on the "sanitize" cycle. Just put them on the top rack. We did nipples this way too (in one of those Munchin baskets).

It depends on the brand of bottle. If you use Avent, Dr. Brown's or any other clear plastic that contain BPA, it's really bad to put them in the dishwasher, as the hot water releases the chemicals that are detrimental to your babies. If you use bottles without BPA, it's totally safe. Check your bottles, because the last thing you want to do is mess with your kids' hormones!

Playtex Drop In's System with the silicone nipples are BPA free as are Born Free brand.....we use the Playtex Drop In's system and sanitize them in the dishwasher daily. We have 16 4 oz bottles and 16 8oz bottles, our 4 week old b/g twins are consuming 4-5 ounces of formula at each feeding, so we are still using the 4 oz bottles and will graduate to the 8 oz very soon I would imagine!

Anyway, we love the Drop In's system! We used these bottles with our first two babies, who are now 3 & 4 yrs old, as well as with the twins. It is SOOO convenient to put the nipples and the bottles/screw on rings/caps in the dishwasher.

    Good luck! ~jillian

I use the dishwasher daily for the bottles. I just don't have time to handwash them. Plus, I feel like they are cleaner in the dishwasher.

Our pedi told us it was fine to wash the bottles in the dishwasher.
