Okay the boys will be 2 weeks tomorrow and we are using 2 ounces of Enfamil, sometimes they chug it all and other times not.. and you are suppose to get rid of the bottle after an hour, so I am just wondering when you all went up to 4 ounces?? I don't want to waste formual, but sometimes I think they may need a 4 ounce.. any thoughts?

When Hannah was that age, I would make the formula in big batches and fill her bottles to just above what she normally ate (2.5-3 ounces). Now that she is eating around 4 ounces, I just make bottles as we go. I guess it's up to you if you would rather waste formula or spend the time making it in batches and warming it each time.

I found it better to judge how long they went after a bottle, compared to have fast/well they drank their bottles. When my guys were hungry after only an hour or so I knew it was time to add an ounce.

I agree with the above. We also increase whenever they consistently finish the amounts given for most of their bottles. We do waste formula, as sometimes they only eat 3 ounces out of the 6, but I'd rather waste formula than have them be hungry or feeding them every hour!

    Good luck.

Mine are just now starting to almost finish 4 ounces and it's not every time they eat.

I am feeding my boys Max and Chase 3 oz of Similac currently- they will be two weeks old tomorrow. They started with about 1 and half oz when we got back from the hospital- but we have stepped it up a bit. I am also nursing and pumping a tiny bit, but I don't think I have enough to offer the both of them

Every baby is different. So if yours don't take 4 ounces for another month that's okay. My DD weighs 11 pounds and she is just now taking about 3 ounces so I give her a 4 ounce bottle. Sometimes she finishes and sometimes not. And she only went up to 3-4 ounces when they started sleeping thru the night longer (around 9 weeks). So really she is only drinking about 5 bottles in a 24 hour period. If they start finishing their 2 ounce bottle more than not start giving them more. At that age I was mixing a big batch so I could give 3 ounces so I didn't have to waste so much formula. Now I just make each bottle as they are hungry DD 4 ounces and DS 6 ounces.

Same here, we went from the pre-made 2 oz bottles to the 4oz Playtex Drop Ins and gradually gave them more based on the how fast they got hungry again rule. They also went through spurts of wanting more for a week and then back the to previous and then about a week later went up to another oz regularly. We did waste some formula but didn't want to leave them hungry either.
