    Hi Ladies,

I need your help. I am trying to figure out what kind and how many bottle I should purchase. Hoping you can let me know what was your favorite and what you disliked the most. Also how many should I purchase for twins if I am not breastfeeding?

I was thinking about the Playtex drop-ins, Avent or Dr. Browns.

    Thanks for you help!

I wouldnt purchase alot of one kind. We started with the Playtex Drop Ins and while I was happy with them, the boys had terrible reflux and did great with the Dr. Browns bottles. I loved the Dr. Browns bottles for helping them with reflux.

We used the drop-ins...so easy and so much less time consuming.

We started out with the Playtex Vent Air--they really work very well. However, just for giggles, I tried the Playtex Drop-Ins the other day, and Payton seems to do much better with that. She screeches less while she eats...LOL. Seriously. You just have to make sure you use them properly, or else they don't work well at all. It took me a minute to figure it out, but it really is quite simple once you realize how it works. Dr. Brown's bottles were great, but they took too much time to take apart, clean, put back together, etc. Too many parts for me. I like simplicity--and simplicity is a necessity with twins at feeding time!

The new BPA-free Avent are HORRIBLE (AND they're 9 bucks each!!! )!!! They leak like mad - even if you follow their "special" instructions on how much to tighten the lids...like I've got time to mess w/ that kind of fussiness anyway :nea: I used the old ones w/ DS and they were great so I automatically got these for the twins. Turns out they get lots of crappy reviews. Even the clerk at BRU said they were awful.

I used Dr. Brown's with the twins, and the Playtex with my other 3. I think they are both good choices. I had 16 bottles.

I used the Playtex Drop Ins and loved them. We had 10 big bottles and I think 8 of the little ones.

After having pretty good success with Avent with my older ds, we started having issues with the bottles when the twins started using a bottle. Leaking everywhere. Come to find out I was tightening the lids too tight. So, I bought the Playtex drop ins and love them! Great reviews on Babies R Us. I cheat and rinse the liners/bottle out after each feeding along with the nipples and reuse. I throw the liners away at the end of the day.

I do have 2 Dr Browns that I got for free from their multiples programs. We use those alot too. They are ok. Not something I would go and buy to use exclusively. I really don't like cleaning them. But I can't complain when I go them for free!

I agree don't buy too much, but personally I prefer playtex dropins. Ease of use is a big selling point for me! :D I used them with my first kids and with the twins, even with my first son's horrible reflux and now my baby girl's reflux I never had problems with the dropins.

I've heard of babies not using a certain kind, but I don't know if I was lucky that my kids all didn't mind them, I just didn't give my kids a choice! ;) The only concession I made was my first son hated the latex nipples so I spent more for the silicone, which he used just fine. I used silicone for all the rest and never had a problem.

I love, love, love the born free glass bottles. They have a venting system to help with gas/reflux and the glass means no weird leaching no matter how many times you wash them. They also have a big boob shaped nipple so that if you nurse the babes will be used to opening wide which helps with good latches.

I agree don't buy a ton. I had no idea that there may be a kind that "wouldn't work"...a bottle is a bottle, right? HA!

We tried everything...we finally tried Dr. Browns and that's what worked for us. Our boys had reflux...once we discovered Dr. Browns...aaaahhhhh life was good again.

Good luck, I hope your first choice works!

After getting al the fancy ones at our shower we tried them and ended up using plain old GERBER bottles. We used the smaller ones and now the bigger ones. I had 8 small and 8 big. They are usually 2 packs for $4 at babysrus. Love them. Throw em in the dishwasher or boil them and you are good to go. My son had reflux and they still were ok for him. My Pedi told me that all bottles have bubbles no matter what the package says. So I went with her recommendation. HTH.

This is what I use and I love them. However, I used Gerber with DD1, and she did just fine. They're a lot cheaper.

we ended up with glass for this very reason. we spent a fortune on medela bottles and they leaked like CRAZY. they warped in the dishwasher and i wasn't a fan of their nipples and i was always concerned about potential leaching if they were still hot from the sanitize cycle. so now we use the evenflo glass bottles with dr. brown's nipples. of all the nipples we tried the dr. brown's ones seemed to make our guys the happiest. glass bottles are guaranteed non-toxic and no matter how hot or cold they get they never ever ever ever warp and develop leaks over time like with plastic.

the only downside to glass (aside the risk of breaking them, which we've only had happen twice) is that they're heavy so if your little ones want to try holding their own bottles they might have a harder time than with plastic. but that's a pretty small downside in the grand scheme of things.
