I put a mug of water in the microwave for 1:30 minutes and then put the bottle of breastmilk in the cup. The milk is usually warmed in about a minute.

I know you are new mothers but it took me until they were about a month to relize that when they are waking at 12,3,6, etc. the microwave is a godsend. Try about 20/30 seconds at first, with mine it was 45 seconds for a perfect warm bottle. Make sure you swish the bottle to get the warmth evenly distibuted. My boys just turned a year and we no longer need to warm the bottles. GL!

We have a two-story house so I would fill the bathroom sink with warm water and put the bottles in there for warming so I wouldn't have to go downstairs in the middle of the night.

Microwave on the 2nd floor. About 5 seconds for each ounce. Shake well and test.

If it's formula you can microwave it, just be sure to shake it really well. If it's breastmilk you can warm it like Gabe, Evie, Allison, and Elouise's mama suggested. If you microwave BM it will kill all the live components. Also, it's better to swirl BM than shake it.

I used to have a crock pot of water that I kept on the counter at all times....it was great. Now that we no longer have nightfeeds I use the bottle warmer.

Thermos with boiling water and a measuring cup to warm the bottles. Each bottle will take less than a minute to warm up.

We kept a crockpot of water on at all times during the whole 1st year and put a bottle in it for about 1 min. Many hospital nursery's use this method too.

I posted this in another thread recently but thought it would be worth sharing again. If you are going to use the microwave then it would probably be best to just heat the water then mix in powder. It is possible that the actual microwaves from the microwave remove some of the nutritional elements of the formula. Of course there is always the hot spot issue but if you are mixing the formula in after then that should take care of it.

Another poster in the other thread mentioned about putting something in the water because she had an experience with the water essentially exploding once the powder was added. I never used the microwave, I did the old fashion pot on the stove but definitely something to keep in mind!

we used to put them in cups of water during the night and with our 2 we couldn't wait for it to warm up so we got a bottle warmer and are thrilled with it..it takes about a minute depending on how much formula is in the bottle.

I have a double plug-in bottle warmer, but I never used it with the girls. I actually serve the formula cold. I have never warmed a bottle for them. It is either room-temp or chilled. This way, they will never have high expectations. [IMG]
