Just wondering what everyone thinks about a bottle warmer...my friends/family all have different opinions!

I have used a bottle warmer and I love it. Now that I'm having twins I just bought another one and it also has a cold side.

I used mine the first couple of days after the girls came home and haven't used it since. I make the bottles as we go through the day. I heat the water in the microwave, and then I pour it into the bottles and add the formula. It is a lot quicker IMO.

Had one for my oldest and barley used it. Didn't have one for the twins and didn't miss it.

We use ours just to take the chill off of the refrigerated EBM. I put the bottle in the warmer and it is ready by the time the diaper is changed. I use the Medela bottles that the NICU had me store BM in and two of them fit in our warmer at a time.

At our breast feeding class the teacher recommended against it. She said that it is not necessary and they have found that it is better and safer to use a pan of warm water.

I have two of the Avent warmers and I am happy with them. We make up a pitcher (well, two pitchers now that they are drinking more) at a time then pour the bottles for the next 24 hours. They are in the fridge waiting for when we need them. When our babies were younger and drinking less, it took less time to warm the bottles (about 3 minutes if I recall correctly). We were also feeding in the middle of the night. So we had a mini fridge and a bottle warmer upstairs, and a bottle warmer downstairs in our kitchen for the daytime. Then when we quit the night feeds, we sold the mini fridge (for $10 less than we bought it for!) and brought the other bottle warmer downstairs. It takes 6 minutes now (their bottles are 9-10 ounces) to heat them up, so it is nice to be able to heat them at the same time. I am very glad we have them.

My twins club also said that many twin moms just use a crock pot with water in it on low all day. That way they can plop both bottles in. I wasn't crazy with the idea of having something running all day long, but I see how it could work for some folks.

I received it as a Baby Shower gift and have never used it. I just find it easier to warm up water in the small pan. :D
