I've finally remembered to ask! (Every time I get on TS, I always get distracted by other posts, etc. and always forget to ask!)

HOW MANY BOTTLES DO YOU HAVE IN ROTATION?

Am I outrageously insane for having 24?! Yup, you read right---twenty four Avent bottles!!

We prepare 4 for the night, (after their 9:00pm feeding), which last for the 3:00am feeding and the 6-7:00am feeding.

Then the rest we use during the day.

Perhaps I am lazy, but depending on their feeding schedules, I only have to wash bottles once a day (at night after all the feedings)...

A mother of a singleton who was over at our house for dinner commented while I was washing bottles, "Oh my God, why do you have so many bottles? Why don't you just wash them after every time they eat? I only rotated three bottles with my daughter."

    Uhh...three bottles? I don't think so...

Does anyone wash their bottles right away? Am I just a hasty, lazy mom? I let the dirty bottles pile up and wash them once a night...is that wrong?

Please reply, this I DO want to hear feedback for!

    Thank you!

In the beginning, I was like that. After about 4 months or so, I had about 12 bottles on rotation I'd say. After 6 feedings, I'd wash and start over. That's what I can remember. I think they only had 6 feedings a day at that point. (They are 1 year old now)

No, I don't think you are lazy!!! Twins are HARD! We have enough to do than make/wash bottles all day long. Whatever works for you, I say :)

We rotated 12 at first, then went down to six after the bottles got bigger. I don't blame you for not wanting to wash bottles all day. If 24 works for you, then keep the 24. It's all about developing a routine in which you can keep some sense of sanity. If it works well for you then there's no sense changing your routine.

We had 8 bottles in the beginning, and then 6 when they decreased feedings. Most often I washed bottles after they were done, just because I'm one of "those" that likes a clean sink. :D

We have 12, when they were tiny we had to wash them during the day or we wouldn't have enough for the evening.....now we have enough for the whole day/night. I only wash them once a day.....I HATE washign bottles!

We have seven bottles although I am also bfing so we don't need the bottles as much. I think if I was exclusively ff'ed I would have about 24 as well. I hate washing bottles.

At our peak I would make up 7 bottles for each baby (so 14 total) and that would be enough for 24 hours. Now I make up 4 bottles for each baby (so 8 total) and that gets us through the day. I'm with you, I only want to wash bottles once a day. After each bottle I rinse them out and toss them in the sink, then during their morning nap I wash all the bottles, make a big batch of formula and fill each bottle for the day. The entire process takes 15 minutes and then all I have to do when it's time to eat is pop a bottle out of the fridge.

I have only 4 bottles in rotation (4 - 11oz Avent bottles) I have a set of drop-in bottles that I keep in the truck with extra formula just in case I ever run out, but I've rarely had to use them - and 2 4oz bottles that aren't used - this is all that I have had since they were maybe 4/5 months

For the babies I only change the bottles once in the morning... I wash them after every use. However I pump and I go through those like crazy! I'm about a day ahead so the bm has been in the fridge for 24 hours and I wait till the end of the day when I wash all of those... So I basically go through 4 advent bottles and 8-10 Medela bottles in a 24 hour period.

I have always had 2 bottles for each in rotation since day one. I have three other kids so I knew that using too many was not for me since I hate doing dishes. I have a dish washer now so it is not as bad. I have noticed that I don't lose as many bottles as I did with my first son though. I use to forget where I'd put the bottle and lose it--lol. Now I only have 4 to keep track of every day.

I have 8 bottles. I considered getting one more for each baby since they take 5 bottles in 24 hours, but I'm not that far ahead of them (I exclusively pump) anyway and can't make up more than three at a time.

We probably have close to this many but we have a weird rotation. For daycare we send four bottles/day. Usually they are 3 bm each and one formula but sometimes (like lately) it is 2 and 2. They are color coded so we have 10 total of those. Then I have the larger bottles that I pump into in the morning and there are 4 of those. Then I have the Medela bottles that we use at home and I pump into and there are probably about 10-12 of those.

We have a tub by the sink where we put all of them and then wash them all at the end of the day. We also have multiples of bowls and spoons now that we do solids. There is no way I could have washed after each feeding. How would we have gotten through the night in those early days??? I wasn't coherent enough to wash and make bottles at 3 am!

We have 9 for one baby, 8 for the other. (We use 2 different kinds of bottles because they don't like the same nipples.) At THIS point, we don't use them all in any given day, but it's always nice to have a couple spares around for that random feeding or when it drops on the floor and the nipple gets coated in hair and dirt.

I'm with you - washing once a day is about all I can handle. Who has the time during the day between DOING the feedings, soothing them to sleep, playing with them, and trying to eat and pee yourself? I can't imagine HAVING to wash them between feedings - though sometmes if I'm having a quiet day I do try to tackle some of them.

We have scads of bottles. I love having so many bottles since I just pop them into the dishwasher at the end of the day. But when they were first born and our dishwasher was broke, we only had 10-12 in rotation.

Plus this way I can keep two in each diaper bag, 4 at the baby sitters, 4 at my parents' house, just in case.

When we used the 4 oz Avent bottles we had more, but now with the 11 ouncers we have 10 total that we use daily and I think 4 drop ins. We are only washing them once a day.

I think that's fine whatever works for you. I seem to remember 16, I think we did 8 for each baby but then that didn't always last all day if we were on a 2-3 hour feeding schedule int he beginning, 24 sounds good, so u could go the whole day

Early on, I had 16 bottles. 4 bottles for each baby for daycare and then I bf otherwise. That way, I could make up the next day's bottles without having to wash the set for that day first.

As time went by though, the number of bottles drastically reduced. Can't imagine how many bottles I would have used if I didn't bf though...probably at least 24.

I have 18 bottles! I love it. I have a dishwasher and usually run it once- unless they are being weird and eating every hour. I don't want my whole day to be washing and fixing bottles, so I have enough to make it through the whole day. You are NOT crazy for having 24.

Even now, we have quite a few bottles, probably 10-12 per baby (ours use different brands). We're down to 3 bottles/day, so we typically run out of nipples before we run out of bottles (they're on the Stage 3s, so I don't own as many nipples as I do bottles). It's nice, we only have to wash bottles every few days instead of daily! I'm too tired to even care that they line up by the sink ;). One of these days I'll pack them up & drop them off at Goodwill. I originally was going to save them, but with the whole BPA debacle, I'm going to get rid of them all. Geesh, I still have the 4 oz bottles in the cupboard & we haven't used those in MONTHS :)!

Even if I was feeding just 1, there's no way I'd survive on 3 bottles......
