Anyone got any wisdom or advice on the following:?

I am hoping/planning to breastfeed and bottlefeed the twins alternately when they are born, so that each will experience the benefits of breastfeeding, while allowing others such as DH to help me. How important is the bottle nipple choice? Which would you recommend? Thanks much,
    wendy

I had good luck with MAM bottles. The nipples aren't round like a typical bottle, but is supposed to be made to be more like a breast. It's hard to explain, but it's kind of wider and flatter rather than round.

Good question! And WTG for planning on nursing those babies.

I know there are special bottles out there that are supposed to be more like nursing, but we just used NICU bottles at first and then Dr. Brown's bottles. Both babies started out on bottles in the NICU and (at their own pace) learned to nurse like champs. We never had any problems switching between breast and bottle. They never rejected a bottle or lost interest in nursing.

I was wondering the same thing so I did some looking around online. I ended up ordering the Breastflow bottles but they haven't arrived yet. I'll let you know how they work out for us.

Avent 0 nipples are really really slow flow, like boobies.

The only one I could get my EBF 7mth old baby to take was the Playtex Ventaire Natural shape or something like that. The wide mouth ones. One of my twins took the Avent, but the other refused - after a few tries he took the Playtex in the silicone - won't take the same shape in the latex....

We have only tried the Breastflow bottles once but he wasn't that hungry so he wasn't into it, although he wasn't crying or anything. I think if he was hungry enough he'd take it no problem because I use an Avent bottle nipple to give him his vitamins and he sucks it right up without complaint. Which makes me think I probably should have just got Avent bottles like I had with my girls.
