I am getting ready to add lunch to their day. They are taking between 28-32 ounces each day.

They are now doing: Share a fruit jar in morning and oatmeal and then share a veggie jar in the evening.

They are acting like they are more hungry for food.

Should I start to offer the bottle first at lunch or the jar food? I am not sure what to do...

I have always done bottle first, then solids about an hour later. The formula is most important in their first year. [IMG]

I always did bottle first then solids. At 11.5 months I did start doing lunch first then bottle to try and drop that bottle, and it worked. I then started doing breakfast then bottle, but they didn't want that bottle either and I got worried they weren't getting enough formula so I went back to morning bottle first then breakfast.

Your boys are probably hungry. My Ped gave us a guideline for feeding that looks like this for 7-9 month olds.

split daily between breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks:

    26-32 oz breastmilk or formula
    6-8 tablespoons infant cereal
    4-5 tablespoons mashed fruit
    4-6 tablespoons mashed veggies
introduce diluted fruit juice by cup at each meal
begin to introduce finger foods like puffed rice, cherrios, very soft mashed veggies and fruits
introduce yogurt - Yo Baby is great

We just had our 9 month appt and Dr wanted us to be on a 3 meal a day schedule which we have been since 7 months: the only dietary restrictions he had were no cows milk, egg whites, honey, shellfish, popcorn, peanuts, peanutbutter, or chocolate.

Other than that - he said start introducing everything they'll eat. My girls pretty much eat evrything we give them. They don't take the amout of formula listed - usually 22-24oz per day. We always offer the bottle first then 1/2 hour later, start the solid meal.

    Hope that helps.

Bottle first then solids here. I just added breakfast today, so I moved the oatmeal they were having at lunch to breakfast - about 1 hour after they have their bottle. I just do fruit for lunch now and I'll do oatmeal and a veggie for dinner. We also added snack time in the afternoon with puffs and water in sippies.

At that age I would still do bottle first. We did bottles, then solids about 45 min later.
