My boys are 6 months now and have been eating solids for several weeks. They take 2 'meals' a day. I'm trying to figure out when I should give them bottles.

They usually have their first bottle of the day at 7 am and their last at 6:30 pm and they're eating their solids at 12:30 and 5.

I'd like to offer 3 more bottles during the day. Any advice on when to give the other three bottles?

    Thanks!

Hey! My boys are the same age as yours are. I do four 8 ounce bottles and two solid meals per day.

(all bottles are eight oz- this does not vary.)

    7:00 am bottle
    9:00 solids
    10:15 bottle
    12:00 solids
    2:00 bottle
    6:00 bottle

*It might be tough (and harder on you) to add in 2 more bottles-- why not just up the amount they are given, assuming they are not at 8 oz yet..

We have been on the same schedule since about 7 months although the amounts have changed. I give them a bottle (6-7 oz.) plus cereal and fruit at 7:30 am. Then they have a bottle with beans, a veggie, and a fruit at 11:30 am. We do a bottle, meat, a veggie, and a fruit at 3:30 pm. And then just a bottle at 7:30 pm. Sometimes I'll split a baby yogurt between them around 6 pm. I know some people alternate a bottle then food a few hours later. I just felt like I would be spending the entire day feeding them and they wouldn't get to develop a nap schedule. This has worked so well for us and the doctor said we were doing well with it.

At 6 months, we did a bottle right after breakfast and lunch, bottle at 4 after nap, dinner at 5:30, and bottle at bedtime at 7. By 7 months both boys didn't do anymore than sip on the lunchtime bottle, so with the OK from our ped, we dropped that bottle. They kept the other 3 until we stopped bottles altogether at 11 1/2 months.

We just went to 3 meals a day, here's our schedule, it seems they eat all day long but then they sleep 12-13 hours at night

    7:30 solids (oatmeal and fruit)
    8:00 bottles
10:30/11 (after 1st nap) solids (fruit and veggie)
    12:30 bottles
    3:00 bottles
4:45/5 solids (veggie, protein, fruit sometimes)
    6:30 bottles
    7:00 bed

I am really looking forward to the day they can drink more than a few sips out of a sippy so I can offer the breakfast bottle in a sippy with the solids.
