My twins are 1 month old tomorrow! I need some advice on how to bottle feed them at the same time. Are the bottle proppers any good? If so, where can I get one? I'm looking for any tips or ideas on what has worked for others.

    Thanks!

I've used bottle props since they have been about a month old -- the yellow and white ones (i think they are called milk maids??) -- they aren't great -but for us they do the trick. Now that they are a little bigger, the work better. Mine laid in their boppy newborn loungers, and I used the bottle props - and regular hand towls to help prop the bottle props. Acutally, the fact that they feel out occastionally worked as a good burping signal for me (since it only really happened because one of them stoped sucking) Now we used the same props, with regular boppies - and only need one towel/blanket to keep them from sliding down since they are in a more upright position.

Good luck -- it really just takes practice -- the first couple of days I thought it was never going to work...but we all got better at it!

I wish I would have known that there were "bottle proppers!" I used my boppy pillows, put the girls each in one, and propped bottles with receiving blankets - regulare blankets - anything that would hold the bottle. At night I had it down when one would wake, I'd get her, warm bottle, prop her, then get the other and do the same thing. By the time I was done propping the second babe, the first one was ready for the 1/2 way burp. By the time babe #1 was done with her bottle she'd be almost asleep - so I'd burp again and back down she went. -oh I would change baby before giving a bottle so I wouldn't have to jostle and wake her after she was done. This worked well for me as at first I was not waking one when the other woke and it made for no sleep for me. It was easy to get them on the "same" schedule. Of course there were nights / times when one would spit up when I was burping the other and things went awry - but for the most part this worked for me. Good luck - Congrats on your new babes!

When they were that little I put them in one boppy and fed them, here's a picture:

I also will sometimes will put the boppy on my lap and place both babies head's in the center, their bodies off to the sides and feed them that way, it works better now that they have a little more head control.

We would put them in a boppy, one in each knee crook (sitting indian style) or in their bouncy seats or car seats even. For the most part though they ate one right after the other so I'd hold them just regular baby cradle to feed... That worked really well for the first 8 weeks or so....

I used The Bottle Bundle by Little Wonders. My SIL got them for me when my girls were about a month old and I LOVED them. They were by far my most needed first year item. DEFINITELY get them.

That's how I did it, only using a regular bed pillow in my lap. I never had any luck with the proppers.

I sit on the couch and put them in a boppy on each side of me. It gets easier to do this the older they get. Good luck!

I sit cross legged on the floor with a pillow between my legs. Both kids have their heads on the pillow side by side facing away from me. Heads are close to me and feet are away from me. It works well and is the only way I can feed them together now.

When they were really small I would hold one in my left hand and use my left hand to hold the bottle. I would lay the second one across my legs and use my right hand to feed that one.

Mine were small enough that I could put them both in one bouncy seat and feed them that way. I also put a pillow across my lap and laid them side by size. As they got a little big and more wiggly, I'll sit in the middle of the couch and lay them both in my lap, one on each side with their heads in the middle and feet outward.

I have an EZ 2 nurse pillow, and I think it works well for bottles too, because both babies can be held close to you. (I'm currently nursing quite a bit, but giving small bottles of Expressed Milk or formula as well).

I absolutely love this product. My boys have been using it since 2 weeks. (Not every feeding) but at night and when we're out and about- it's WONDERFUL!

    Otherwise I use a regular pillow :)

With my first son, I would put him in the car seat and then I would put the boppy around it and it propped VERY nicely!

When they were little, I'd prop my feet up on the coffee table/ottoman and sit one DS in my lap, w/ his head towards my knees, then sit the other DS in a Boppy next to me.

I sit in the recliner during the day with one in each nook (between my leg and the arm of the chair) and use anything handy to prop up the bottles when it's time to burp. At night I use my sheets and comforter to make a pillow under their necks and use blankets to prop up the bottles. I get one baby started then get the other one going. I used to change them first, but now I change them when they slow down. It wakes them back up again (I have slow poke eaters). I was at the hospital the other day for one feeding and it was impossible to do both at once! They just had to wait. HTH!
