Bottle feeding is starting to get complicating. They can hold their bottles but I have to keep them seperated or they steal each others bottles. They also get distracted while eating so they are constantly dropping their bottles and milk is going all over the carpet. In the mornings and at night, we feed them in their cribs and they eat good at that time but I worry if I'm not supposed to "put a baby to bed with a bottle". What do you do for this age to get them to sit still and eat? They have 3 bottles a day (one in the morning, one at noon, and one at bedtime). Is it too early to put milk in sippy cups? They drink water really well out of those. I feel like I've hit another bump in the road and I'm clueless!! TIA!!!

We were ok'ed to start whole milk at 9 months, and did start sippies with milk about 10 - 11 months. It took them a while to get used to them, but it might not hurt to start trying in your situation. Mine never liked the holding the bottle on their own thing, so I'm not sure, but I don't think it would hurt to give it a try?

Mine only do well when I stick them in a reclining position -either their bouncy seats or their carseats. When they're at the table, they just drop them. Of course, my babies are really too big for bouncy seats, but they stay there just fine until their bottle is empty. I just keep an eye on them and they're fine.

with my first son i started weaning him from the bottle at 10 months and started him on the sippy cup. he was off the bottle within a month. i started whole milk gradually adding it in with his formula until he was drinking all whole milk. he was officially on whole milk at 13 months. i will be doing the same with our girls too.

    lots of love

My girls are 9 months, and we do 3 bottles a day, in the bouncy seats also. They can't holdthem by themselves sitting up...and tend to spill all over also. We do juice in the sippy and they do ok with that, so my pedi suggested we start with the first bottle of the day and switch that to cup, then middle bottle, finally bedtime bottle last. I've gotten good success with the first one, working on the second.

    Hope this helps.

We were off bottles by 11 months for those reasons....they wouldn't sit still long enough for a whole bottle!

Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to try putting their milk in their sippy cups. I'm going to try to slowly switch them and see how it goes this afternoon. I have a good feeling about it. I just needed some encouragement. Thanks!!

Mine are holding their own bottles also. I usually lay them both in the floor and then sit between them. Otherwise they get distracted or try to steal each others bottles.
