so, i've checked my emails (and replied), read the forums (twice!), & my blogs, i've done the dishes, folded the laundry, played with the girls, booked my wisdom teeth consult, have no books or magazines to read, i'm sick of the Mom Show, Three Takes & A Baby Story, don't have a knitting project to work on & did all my weeding last night. i'm so BORED!!

maybe i'll take the girls grocery shopping when they get up from their nap...oh man, when did grocery shopping become entertaining?!

Tell me your secret!!!!! How do you have time to do all that AND be bored with 11 month twins around?? My twins are almost 11 months and I relish these moments of quiet where i can just relax when they are sleeping (they aren now..). Please tell me what you know/do that I can learn from!!!

 it's not a secret so much as i have been blessed with good sleepers - they take 2x 2 hour (or so) naps a day & are in bed by 7:00pm every night. it ends up feeling like a lot of time to fill. i mean, there are definitely things i could be doing around the house but now i'm in that i'm-so-bored-i-don't-want-to-do-anything funk.

Did you train them to nap like that or it just worked out? What time do they get up in the morning? I'm lucky if i get two one hour naps our of both of them. Mine do go to sleep by 7 though.

I'm with you this morning! My girls are still taking their morning naps and I'm bored! Unlike you, I do have stuff I should be doing, but I don't feel like doing any of it. Happy Monday! :)

we did do sleep & nap training with them - we actually hired a sleep consultant to work with us. it was well worth the money. i get them out of their cribs at 7:00am every morning although i can sometimes hear them as early as 6:00am. unless they're really freaking out though i leave them to entertain themselves. here's a post where i explain a bit more about how we did our nap training. one thing to keep in mind is that if your LOs are sleeping for an hour, that may be all they need. if they're only sleeping for 40-45 minutes though, it's probably more an issue with not being able to go back to sleep after a sleep cycle. HTH.

I've got a 3.5 year old you can borrow for when you are bored! He gave up on naps about a year ago and I spend the babies' nap times with him. I think he sometimes keeps me busier than the babies! Enjoy your quiet time!

Where did you find a sleep consultant? When did you do the nap/sleep training? What does the rest of your day schedule look like?

a friend of mine had worked with her & recommended her to me - you can check out her website at www.cheekychops.ca. we did all of our work over phone & email - she's really great.

we started the night time sleep training when the girls were 3.5 months old & the nap training about 2 weeks later.

our current schedule looks like this:

    7:00am wake & nurse
    8:00am breakfast
    9:00am nap #1
    11:00am-ish wake & nurse
    12:00pm lunch
    2:00pm nap #2
    4:00pm-ish wake & nurse
    5:00pm dinner
    7:00pm bedtime

i DO nurse before they go to bed (good catch!). can't believe i missed that.

we do baths twice a week on wednesdays & saturdays usually. although, when we were doing the sleep training we did baths every night as part of their bed time routine. once they were pretty consistent with their bedtime though we stopped - it was just drying their skin out too much (plus, it was a lot of work to do every night).

ETA: our bedtime routine without baths is: PJs, story, nurse, brush tooth (ha!), turn on white noise, turn off lights, sing twinkle, twinkle little star (twice), hugs & kisses & into their cribs. it takes about 20 minutes on a good night.

about 90% of the time i tandem nurse them. they usually only nurse for about 5 - 10 minutes now. i have had to nurse them one at a time though before & usually whoever isn't nursing is happy enough to play while waiting her turn - if they're really cranky for some reason, i turn on the tv. shocking, i know! ;)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is bored!! I'm on summer break from school and some days it gets pretty....dull. The boys nap from 8-10. Then again from noon till 2:00-3:00.

I'm not a crafty person, not a good housekeeper and am finding myself pretty bored. I've started napping from 8-10 with them!! Then from noon till whenever they wake up I get dressed, clean the house, and whatever. There isn't really a convenient time to go out and do things during the day. The time from 10-12 is spent playing and eating lunch and then by the time they wake up from nap #2, my husband is nearly home, so I usually just wait till he gets back to do errands. Plus, I mean, you can only go shopping so many times.... I really do love being home with them, but I'm also a little excited to go back to work in the fall.

    Any suggestions!?!?

I sing that for my girls too! They get it at nap time though, since sometimes I miss the cues and am a little late getting them down (no story as part of the routine for naps--just at bed) and I sing it twice too! I feel like each daughter should get her own song! :)

unfortunately, no. i've taken up gardening...sort of...i also spend a ridiculous amount of time online.

i'm also looking forward to going back to work in the fall (well, some of the time - the rest of the time i'm really torn about going back at all). but i think for myself, it will be good to get out of the house part of the time.

sometimes i feel like if i have to sing it ONE MORE TIME, i'm going to scream! we've been doing that as part of their nap time/bed time routine since they were 3.5 months old - when they took 3 naps a day i would sing it 16x/day. ugh. i told DH that we're picking a different song for the next baby! all that being said though, it's worth it - my girls have a total Pavlov's dog reaction to that song. as soon as they hear it their thumbs are in their mouths & their eyes close. it's pretty cute.
