We are looking to switch our boys from convertibles to boosters and was wondering what kind is a good (affordable) kind. I will not spend $100 on a carseat...we just don't have the funds. I know that there are many mid priced boosters that are safe so those are the ones I am wondering about. Primarily, I am wondering if they are comfy when they fall asleep on long trips. We travel a lot and the boys always sleep in the van so I need them to of course be safe but also comfy. Thanks for your help!!

Do you mean ones to use the seatbelt with? If so, my oldest DD has the graco turbo booster. We got the one with the back on it when she was 4, she has fallen asleep many many times in it. You can take the back off and just use the booster seat when ready as well.

Thanks for replying! Everytime I post a topic on here I never get more than one or two responses. I don't really understand that.

We bought the Grace Turbo Boosters as well after a lot of recommendations from friends. So far, the girls seem to like them. We found them for $50 and received a twin discount. I think we got four for $180. We also bought the Evenflo to use when carpooling, but haven't taken it out of the box. It was only $40 and the reviews were very positive.

One thing to add is that although they are comfortable, Danielle does complain about getting carsick sometimes when she sits in the back of the minivan. I think it's because she isn't strapped in as tightly since it's not a five point harness.

You might also check out some of the websites out there that sell them and always ask about the twin discount!!!

I don't have any kids in that age/size range - so that's why you probably don't hear from me all the time!

Ok I have been racking my brain trying to recall a certain seat I saw recomended on here. I finally remembered it is a radian or a sunshine radian (this is not exact but close) . These seats are around a 100.000 or so. However, IMO it would have been worth it because 1 it harnessed up to 60 or 100 lbs. (2 different seats can't remember exact details sorry) Also the height was much higher than most boosters. IMO they outgrow the seats in height not weight. My current seats are graco (high back) turbo boosters but that is because my girls outgrew their old seats in height. My girls are 7 now and even at 6 I still missed the harness.

Getting back on track though what I am trying to say is, I believe the Radion seat will last you for the remaining years of being in a booster seat. 4'9" and 80 lbs is the new car seat law in alot of places. The less expensive boosters tend to be a higher weight and smaller height. Then in a cpl years you need to replace again. Check out www.mysimon.com for some comparison prices on booster seats. We love our Graco Turbo boosters with memory foam. They are really comfy for their behinds! The cover is also a little nicer than the one that comes on the other version. It's reversible and washes really well. My boys have fallen asleep in theirs many times and always seem comfortable. My other favorite feature is the way the headrest adjusts. It's a simple handle you squeeze and adjust. The height is easy to get just perfect every time.
