So far I've read Positive Discipline and just started Love and Logic. Are there any other parenting "theories" out there that you recommend?
I could use all the help I can get! Apparently I need to teach daycare about toddler behavior, Mr. B has been getting bad reports lately, lots of hitting, kicking, throwing, pinching (but no biting yet ;o)

I just got 1-2-3 Magic upon the recommendation of people from these boards. I don't think you are really supposed to start until age 2, but I am already trying to get them used to counting and time outs and he has some good points about remaining calm, not showing emotion, etc. that seem like they will help.

The only thing I've read is 1,2,3 Magic but I know there is a lot out there. Maybe check out your local library... GL!

I enjoyed the Love and Logic for the Early Years and 1-2-3 Magic, and am currently reading Playful Parenting, which is great. My next book is Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline, which was highly recommended to me. Every book I've read has some great ideas that have been very helpful, and some ideas that don't fit with our family too. I probably got the most out of the Moms on Call online Toddler Seminar on their web site www.MomsOnCall.com.

    How was Positive Discipline?

Positive Discipline was very good. . . it was the one for birth to 3 years. The Easy to Love, Difficult Discipline was recommended to me by my Parents as Teachers worker so I've put that on my list as well.
I've done some research at my library and found reality discipline by Dr. Kevin Leman, Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours, so that's on my list as well.

I have a lot of reading to do in my future ;o)
But on a good note, I called daycare and Mr. B is having a good day. . . Sam Sam however is very teary. . . if it's not one thing it's another!

If you are a Babywiser Toddlerwise is good. Happiest Toddler on the Block is interesting.
I haven read 1-2-3 magic yet, but I want to. And I love the Love & Logic series.

Oh, I read the Happiest Baby on the Block and that was weird. . . It didn't make a lot of sense when my kids weren't tantruming but now that they are I may need to look at it again.

I LOVE the Babywise series by Gary Ezzo. It starts all the way from newborns-teenagers. They also have a great corresponding course taught through some churches called Growing Kids God's Way. We just took it this past year and loved it. Hope that helps!

I'd like to read 1-2-3 Magic, but I'm not sure if it's too early. Sounds like the book is designed for kids 2 and older.

I have a STACK of books by my bedside and I re-read them and wow when my kids got to 2.5 yrs of age there was NOT a book out there to help me. As one book said... "there have been forests cut down to make parenting books". I loved all the books I read when they were younger but at 2.5 yrs old wow it was just a good glass of wine every night and the odd extra day in daycare to help my sanity.

Twins is a different story that a book has not been written for yet.

I just got it and my kids are a few months from two - I just wanted to give myself time to read it and understand it before we implemented it. There is no way they could catch on at this point and they still think time-out is fun time so we have a ways to go with that book, but a lot of it makes sense to me and seems pretty easy to stay consistent if it works.

I was reading through some books at lunchtime yesterday and it looked like What to Expect the Toddler Years had some discipline info and I really liked this one that I was looking at that was called something like Making the Terrible Twos Terrific but I opted to get a more fun, fiction book to read instead - oops :rotflmbo:!

I liked the Mother of All Toddlers Books as a good overall book for this age. I've gotten Happiest Toddler on the Block, and am still deciding what I think of it ...
