My cousin's DD is turning 4. I wanted to put some books in with her gift b/c I don't think she has very many. I was wondering what some favorites are at this age? Any ideas?? :D

When my girls were around 4, one of their favorite books was God Gave Me You. They also like the action ones, The Biggest Snowman Ever, The Runaway Pumpkin, My Friend Rabbit (just adorable little book). I don't honestly think it matters, books are all fun. They are usually able to sit through more words now, so they can be longer.

    Hmmm...How about...

Don't let the Pigeon Drive the Bus
No, David! (and any of the books from David Shannon)
    Coco Can't Wait
    Click Clack Moo
    Cows Can't Fly
Miss Spider's Tea Party (THE most beautifully illustrated book I've ever seen)
    Harry the Dirty Dog
    Corduroy
    A Pocket for Corduroy
    Goldilocks and the Three Bears
    Olivia
    Olivia and the Missing Toy
    When I was Little

I'll think of more and bet back to you.

Maggie loves Dr. Suess books - Green eggs & Ham, most of all
    Also Stellaluna
Guess How Much I love you
    You're all my Favorites
Any fairy tale - princesses rule her bedtime reading at this point
If you give a mouse a cookie

Good luck - I have a hard time buying books. I can never pick just one or two.

I totally agree I just think that you have to choose which Dr. Seuss books carefully because some of them are very long and just too much for the attention span of a 4 year old. I also LOVE Kevin Henkes and also suggest Leo Lionni books.

Thanks ladies! I guess I was just having a serious brain fart b/c once I saw the titles listed they all came back to me. Been reading waaaaaaaaay too many board books. Shame on me and my early childhood education degree.

Yes, any Dr. Seuss! And Caroline LOVED the Give a mouse a cookies series, there are 5 or so of them, they are great (Give a mouse a cookie, take a mouse to school, give a moose a muffin, give a pig a pancake, take a mouse to the movies (I think).

I just bought a book called "Pinkalicious" and my DD loved it. Its about a girl who eats too many pink cupcakes and turns pink and needs to eat green things to turn back to herself. Very cute!

My (just turned) 5 year old niece *loves* the 'Walter the Farting Dog' series. They're odd but really cute LOL.
