The girls are going to be 8 and they have horrible BO. I mean they shower and they stink again. I took them to the dermatologist and they prescribed medication for their armpits. When did your kids start deodorant.

I used to watch one of my oldest dd's friends after school in 2nd and 3rd grade. She started wearing deoderant at the end of 2nd grade so she was almost 8. My oldest didn't start until 5th grade but only when it was really warm out. My oldest ds is in 5th grade and used it some over the summer. I say if they smell like they need it, let them use it!

I agree with Meredith .. if they need it .. use it. They make teen deoderants that they might actually like. But whats with the medication the Dr prescribed ? Did they say why this is happening so young ? My girls were like 12 when they first needed deoderant.

They say their sweat glands are not sweating like they should, so basically it is holding in the sweat.

My girls have had deodorant for about a year now, but rarely use it. One of them just said a few days ago that she smelled herself and needed to start using it. I had bought them Toms of Maine. It doesn't have aluminum in it. The apricot has a nice scent to it too.

I would ask y our DR.

That is young- they coudl check for yeast (which smells), clogged pores, and other things that may only be temporary.

Diet can also have an effect- are they eating anything that would cause extra strong scent (onions, garlic, many bananas?

Some soaps also smell 'different' on people. DH switched soaps and although the soap smelled good out of the box, with his chemistry- it stank!! He smelled even though he just showered. Try switching soaps.

As PP- said they have pretee/teen deoderants that are a little 'less' than adult strength.
