Emily will be 7 in a couple of weeks. She stayed the night at my sister's Saturday night. She called to tell me she BO and was going to give her bath. I have noticed a couple of times since Christmas. I just think she is sooo young to have this. I don't know if I should be concerned about it or not. She also shows no signs of puberty (seriously, I am talking about this already??)

I guess I need to buy deoderant for her.

I had similar concerns about my child at younger than 7. I mentioned it to the ped and she said as long as there were no other signs of puberty (ie hair) then it is not a concern. She even said sometimes certain foods can cause BO to be a little bit stronger. I used to try to connect it with food but gave up before reaching a conclusion. We have done deodorant on occasion.

my DD just had her 7 yr old well child check. I didn't ask, but the Pedi mentioned that it's normal. I didn't want to embarrass my DD so I didn't tell him I'd been notcing it.
Now she knows to "wash her pits" in the bath and if we're going to gymnastics or something I tell her to reach for the ceiling and I squirt a little of "Mom's special body mist" on them. She's none the wiser :)

My SD was 6 when she had to start wearing deodorant she seriously smelled like she was working at a hoagie shop instead of being in school! :) She is 10 now and has just started puberty within the last year I guess the BO comes first at least that was the case with her.

My DD will be 10 in July and she started wearing deoderant about a year ago. Everyone is so different, I would have your daughter wear it, though. Kids can be mean.

Thanks all! She has started to wear deoderant now. She likes wearing it, and thinks its fun! So, I am glad for that. I tell her that it makes her smell wonderful.

My daughter started wearing deodorant as well at age 7. Her pits were smelling nasty , no matter how clean she got. she's always been sweaty though.
