I am 34 weeks prego with twin boys and I am having all sorts of aches and pins. My ankles have been ridiculously swollen but even in the mornings when the swelling goes down, they hurt. My hands are just now getting swollen and my joints in my fingers are sore as well. My hips...oh don't get me started. I feel like they (the bones) are going to separate and fall apart every time i switch from sleeping on the left to the right, or going to the bathroom, or getting up from my couch. I feel like an old GI Joe when you left them out in the sun too long and that rubber band that held them togther dried out and snapped, how the GI Joe would fall apart at the pelvis...lol. I was so in shape before this pregnancy, weight training and running 5 miles and this is really taking a toll on my body. I can't imagine going my full 3 weeks left... tell me I'm not the only one.

I'm 33 weeks, not a lot of swelling here, but I have some awful pain in my abdomen area. They say it's just my ligaments...but it's such an awful feeling!! I hope things get easier for you...just a few more weeks!

Oh yes I remember that all to well. The pregnancy really starts taking a toll on your body, you really start to feel the weight of two. You're so close, hopefully you'll be able to stick it out a few weeks more. Good Luck

Psst, by the way, this is the perfect opportunity to get waited on by other people. Milk it while you can :p

You are not alone... I am 34 weeks as well. I'm not having any swelling but the joint aches and pain is horrible. Turning in bed is a challenge and putting on clothes haha ummm I usually make the hubby assist! And shaving... lets just say I am in need of a personal shaver. I am definitely in the duck stage of pregnancy (waddle waddle) :D The gi joe reference was perfect! With that said, even though I have had a very difficult pregnancy and been completely miserable... it could be sooooooooooo much worse. Some of the ladies on here amaze me. I don't know if I could handle swelling on top of everything else!!! You only have a short few weeks left. Take it a day at a time... I am right there with you. We are counting down together! You can do this! :clapping:

    Best wishes

Ohhh yes, I completely hear ya! The aches and pains are awful...especially in my hips (rolling over in bed almost feels like my muscles are ripping apart). I don't have any swelling thankfully though. I'm almost 35 weeks and just barely hanging on. Most days I feel like my belly is going to BURST, something out of the movie Alien maybe...okay, that's a bad example...but you get what I mean. LOL. But we'll get through this! Just a few more weeks and we will get to meet our beautiful babies. Hang in...we can do it... and I'm here if you need to vent :)

    Take care of yourself!

seems like the majority of you are not swelling. My feet and ankles are sooooo swollen they look like virginia hams. You have to understand how wierd this looks because my legs (below the thigh) have always been thin. In fact I've always been self conscious about my skinny ankles. They are unrecognizeable. They look like the ankles of a member of the Krumps family. Seriously like they belong on a 6oolb person. And just now my blood pressure went up to 124/78. It's always been around 110/62. So I, along with everyone who knows me is in shock. I have had foot surgery before and my scars were quite smooth and undetectable and know they are popping out. I swear I'm gonna get stretch marks on them...lol I guess, I have had a pretty uneventful pregnancy, not even thrown up once... but LOTS of sciatica. No stretch marks yet unless they are really light and I just can't see them.So I guess I am paying my dues.

I am there too... I will be 35 weeks on Wednesday and the symptom list just keeps getting bigger. My swelling has been getting gradually worse starting with my feet & legs, last week it started in my hands and every now and again it will actually hurt in my joints to move my fingers. Getting up is pretty much like trying to move a hippopotamus and the first few steps after getting up are anything but pleasant. Turning over in bed is just ridiculous and sometimes I think I might get stuck halfway through trying to turn. I don't sleep for more than an hour and a half at a time because then I have to pee and lots of times I can't get back to sleep after that and end up being up for the next 2 hours. I am sick of people asking me how I am doing because... hello? how do you think I am doing?! I don't feel like doing anything at all and have pretty much decided my house will be messy from now because I only have energy to do something for like 5 minutes at a time and I save that for making food or getting clean! The drs appointments are a pain in the rear because I always end up waiting forever to see the dr. and am exhausted by the time I get home from my twice a week stints there.
Other than that I am really doing just fine :)

contact your dr. if it is major swelling and a rise in blood pressure. Those could be warning signs of preeclampsia I hope it is not but it is better to be safe!!!!

    Best wishes... keep us updated!

I could have written this exact post. I'm 35 weeks and also can't believe how swollen my legs are! Actually, I was coming home from the chiropractor today and started to develop a headache. My cousin, who had twins five years ago and ended up with pre-eclampsia, told me this weekend that it all started with a headache. I started thinking...oh my gosh, I need to find out my blood pressure, so I went to the grocery store and took it with one of those automatic ones in the pharmacy and it was 134/87, where as normally it is right around where yours is 110/70-ish. Of course the OB said to come in, but no pre-eclampsia. I'm just super swollen and super uncomfortable at this point. Fortunately, two weeks from today we will have our babies, so I just need to hold on until then.

It is just so hard to be uncomfortable at this point and the last week seemed to take forever, but I know each day/week is going to pass so quickly and soon we will all see why we were putting up with this pain and uncomfort!

yeah i did get checked, that's actually why he told me to stop working...just as a precautionary measure. No pre-e yet anyways thank God! Tomorrow i have another NST and on Wednesday a sonogram followed by my first pelvic check to see how the cervix and "va-j-j" are doing... Can't hardly wait! I measured my bp at walmart today and it was 111/86. the top # fine but the bottom # a bit high I'd say. No headaches or floaty things in my field of vision. all good signs. thanks for the warning though.

I hear ya Jenny! The thing is the majority of people including women with just singletons will never really know. Thank God for these forums where we can vent and get support knowing we are not crazy or wimpy or exaggerating. You're right about the 5 minute bouts of energy. By the time I get up, shower, brush teeth and go downstairs, i have to take a break before eating breakfast.

I feel so much better reading all these posts. I'm 34 weeks pregnant. My legs and ankles are huge. My knees ache. My back aches. It's difficult to stand up, lie down, and sit. My fingers are sore. I have no energy. I can't sleep. I have PUPPP all over my body which is the most annoying thing I have ever, ever experienced. I'm so ready for my babies to come. My c-section or induction has been scheduled for March 28. I was thinking of pulling out an advent calendar to count down the days.

Good luck to everyone getting through the last 4 to 6 weeks!

I hear you and the pp. And I DO have swollen feet and ankles. I call my right foot, the "elephant foot". It's awful.
In the morning, it's pretty good. Still a bit swollen but not that bad. By the end of the day, especially if I eat something with salt in it..ugh. It's so swollen. And my hands ache in the morning because of all the fluid in them. And, my shoulders ache?!? When I am typing (like now), they ache like carpal tunnel syndrome. So weird. Rolling over in bed is a HUGE undertaking and my husband has to put on my shoes. Well, my pair of sneakers. That is the only pair of shoes that fits me anymore as I tie them really loose and wear them like slippers. And, I get really hungry but I can't overeat or I feel SO sick. And..the tired..I am SO tired all the time. Only 4-6 weeks left for me. I hope and pray that it doesn't get too much worse. This is definitely a lot to handle but we are going to be blessed with two little ones and this will soon be a distant memory.
    Hang in there!!!

That is great news! My sister had bad swelling during pregnancy... she realized it was things she was eating that made her retain water. Watermelon and big macs were her vice :) Everyones body is different. While you are in bed are you elevating your feet and upper body? Maybe some type of recliner and pillows will help... or soaking... Lying on the left side, wearing support hose and comfortable shoes may help to relieve the swelling. Iwish I could help more! Good luck and I hope things get better!

    Swelling: What You Can Do
Some swelling, particularly in the feet and ankles, is normal during pregnancy. Here are some tips for relieving and managing this swelling:

Relieve the pressure. Put your feet up on a footstool or hassock, or lie on your side. This will relieve the pressure on the veins of your lower body and reduce the swelling. Take breaks during the day where you can sit with your feet up. While you sleep, raise your legs slightly with pillows. Don’t cross your legs when you sit. Avoid standing or sitting with your feet on the floor for long periods of time.
Stay cool. Heat can make the swelling worse. Stay cool and try not to get overheated.
Improve your circulation. Lying on your left side can help improve your circulation and reduce swelling. After long periods of sitting, take a short walk. Avoid tight clothes or jewelry that cut off the circulation at your wrists or ankles. Leg massages and supportive tights or stockings can also help improve circulation.

Do not take any medication (such as "water pills") to reduce swelling without first talking to your health care provider.
When to Talk to Your Health Care Provider
Mild swelling of the legs, hands and face is normal during pregnancy. But call your health care provider if you have severe or sudden swelling, particularly in your hands or in your face around the eyes. This could be a sign of a serious condition called preeclampsia (also called toxemia) that causes high blood pressure and fluid retention. Women with preeclampsia may experience any of the following symptoms:

Sudden or severe swelling of the hands and feet
    Severe headaches
    Blurred vision
    Dizziness
    Severe pain in the belly
Also call your health care provider if one leg is much more swollen than the other, especially if you also have pain or tenderness in your calf or thigh.

We have a short time left. I am more scared about them coming out then dealing with the pain of them remaining in there haha. My mom keeps laughing at me when I keep saying I am not ready. If there was just a way of beaming them out... (beam me out scottie) that would be sooooooooooo amazing. Reality really stinks sometimes.

oh and I also met the MOM's group the other day... their meeting is across the hall and our teacher introduced us to them... anyways they were asking when I was due and how far along I was... evidently I am small for how far along I am and when they asked when I scheduled my c section and I responded I am having a vaginal birth they all looked at me like I was insane and then basically said I was insane. haha The nurse at ob dittoed that today. Is it really that crazy? I am freaked out but the recovery and risk aren't as high as a c section... my luck I will have both anyways  .
