I have the BOB SUS . Just wondering when I can start taking the babies for walks. The manual said 8 weeks for walks, but does this just mean on smooth surfaces or can this be on a light trail? If any of you took them walking at 8 weeks, how did you find the recline on the seats? How did your babies do? How did you support the neck since it doesn't recline all the way down? How long did you wait to run with them? The manual says 8 months! I realize they need proper neck control, but I thought that was at 6 months? Did you all wait the 8 months? Thanks :babyflips:
My girls are seven months and still slouchy, so we've not been able to use our jogger. I'd like to know about the age for trails, too.
I think for walking you shouldn't use it until they have good head control around 4 or 5 months or after if that is the case...depends on head control. They are very dangerous to jostle them around before that. I really would follow the manual...I know it is a pain but jogging still jostles them good, even though the BOB is probably the smoothest ride out there. We have never used the recline because mine will only sit up. Annoying...lol. Until about 15 months I rolled a small towel and put between the crotch strap and them so they wouldn't slouch down. My one complaint of this otherwise excellent stroller. For the head/neck, early on we used those things you buy for carseats...here is a picture. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?sku=15013591
With my son, I started running at 5 months but he had excellent head control. I also doctored up a support for him.
So apparently I'm the neglectful one, but with both the single BOB with dd and the double with the boys, I put the lo's in when they were about 6 weeks both for walking and running (but I just run on roadways through our surrounding neighborhoods so it's still fairly smooth) I just reclined the seats all the way back and rolled blankets to put around the tops and sides of their head/shoulders to keep them in place. The seats sort of sway with the movement so the lo's were never jarred. I just made sure they were all tucked in securely and that I could always see them through either the top window or by flipping the back flap up and looking at them through that gap.
I didn't run with my girls & the BOB until they were 8 months old. But I am a physical therapist and totally, over-the-top paranoid about head trauma ardon: !! Thus saying, I had them in the BOB, fully reclined & with a snuggly little support that I bought from BRUS or Target or Somewhere, from about 12 weeks. And let me tell you, around my neighborhood the sidewalk is a bit like off-roading!!
