My kiddos LOVE books. We have some great book right now but I'm looking for more now. I'm hoping I find one for my lil girl that can take the place of her Baby Beluga book, since I hate singing that song 6 times every evening.... :)
Which books do your kiddos like to have read to them or enjoy looking through on their own?
    TIA!

My girls (and I) love Sandra Boynton's books. Favorites are: Moo Ba La la la; The going to bed book; Barnyard Dance; Dinosaur Binkit; Whats wrong little pooky; and Blue Hat Green Hat.

I am a HUGE Eric Carle fan. I love that his books have skills to teach kids of any ages. Right now the boys love "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" (b/c they are a big fruit kick) and "The Very Busy Spider" (b/c it has farm animals and the spider's web is raised). All of his books are in paper and board book forms. I even bought the boys some Eric Carle board games at Target (stocking up for their Sept. bday and Christmas). Oh yeah, "The Very ___ Cricket" has chirping at the end. I think the Firefly one lights up too. I bought the boys some sensory board books at B&N for Easter (they were on sale).

I second the votes for Sandra Boynton and Eric Carle. They are fantastic! My kids love the Shiny, Touchy, Smelly books from Discovery Toys, the ABC board book from DK, Who lives in your house and Who lives in the Sea from Priddy Books. They live quite a few things from Priddy Books. They also like anything with animals or different textures they can touch. Another cool series is the Carl books.

I third Sandra Boynton and Eric Carle. Mine also love Goodnight Moon (my son will not put it down) and Here Comes Peter Cottontail.

    Hi,
Great suggestions from everyone. I've compiled a list of our favorite board books. One day I put all our books together and the girls and I selected our favorites to make a list for mommy's website to recommend to other young toddlers. Many of these are still their current favorites.

I've compiled the list using Amazon so that the covers are visual and I find that Amazon gives a good basis of comparison for prices at book stores, ebay, and other sources. There are also parent reviews on each one that may help you select the right books.

Our children love the Fisher Price Little People "Lift the Flap" series. They are hard back books that the children can lift these little flaps and there are pictures underneath. We have several of them and keep them in the car. They keep them occupied for a LONG time. Here is a link which lists some of them.

I fourth them! I also love Dear Zoo (great for kids who like animals, and it has flaps which mine love) and the usborne range of 'That's not my....' books (they have lots of different things-teddy, monster, puppy, train etc) which have touchy-feely bits and are really sturdy.

A lot of the books already mentioned are great and we love them, too.

Our bedtime favorite is Ten Apples Up On Top, by Dr. Suess. It's an obsession around here and they know most of the words.

We also love the Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? series... which is illustrated by Eric Carle but written by someone else, I think?
