Bloody show ...how long before actual labor?

I had bloody mucus discharge this evening followed by few small blobs later on. I've also been contracting painfully since lastnight after DH and I went active
but they are not that regular or frequent. I don't know if I should be worried and give L&D a call or not. I have my regular checkup and u/s tomorrow morning...should I wait till then?

I'm scheduled to be induced this Friday and am trying all known methods to go into labor naturally. Does this mean I'll be able to deliver before scheduled induction?

 

I lost my plug over the course of two weeks, there is really no way to tell how long before labor......it is just soo different with each pregnancy.

Has your doc given you a criteria about when to call? If they are not regular and you believe it is caused because of having intercourse then I would probably not call quite yet. If they become more frequent and consistant that is when I would call but again using whatever criteria you have received from your doc (6 contractions in an hour or whatever you have been told).

I would definitely call!! In my case I had the bloody show at 4 am and went to the hospital. I was already 3 1/2 cm dilated and almost completely thinned out when I arrived at the hospital. When the nurses put me on the monitor I wasn't contracting with any type of pattern, it was very irregular and I didn't really feel the contractions. I was just mildly uncomfortable, they hadn't seen anything like it before and were saying things like " this is strange", "we don't see any sort of pattern". When the doctor checked me at about 9am I was 6-7 cm dilated, and he said we're having babies today. I delivered Lily at 2:22pm and Michael at 2:25pm by vaginal delivery. So it sounds to me like you'll be having the babies very soon!

I went straight to my appointment this morning and guess what???? I was completely effaced and 3cm dilated!! Also had been having mild cramping with front and back with my contractions...they were about 12mins apart. Anyway, doc said I was having these babies soon so just to quicken things up she stretched my cervix a little (which was so bloody painful and uncomfortable!!). She was ok for me to go home and progress further on my own. Advised hot bath, hot curry and hot sex...lol

Well not much is happening apart from lots of bloody discharge. Am told to go into L&D if contractions get 5mins apart or my water breaks. If nothing happens all of tonight, I will need to go to L&D at 8am tomorrow. Then to speed things up they will rupture my membranes according to doc. Either way ladies, I'm meeting my boys tomorrow!!!! :banana:
