I have an appt with our Ped in an hour, but was curious if any of you had any experience.

My little guy had the MMR vaccine 10 days ago. This past weekend, he developed the measles rash on his knees/elbows/butt, complete with high fever (102.5), runny nose, cough, & goopy eyes (all symptoms of measles after I did much research). The fevers now come & go, but he still has the runny nose, cough, & goopy eyes (eyes are ok in the AM & worse in the PM). He also is extremely fussy (with or without Ibuprofen/Tylenol) & just screams out in pain like something is bothering him....especially while he is sleeping. We thought a tummy ache, so we even attempted Mylicon (haven't done that in ages!). Again, abdominal pain is a sign of measles. So is joint pain & he sometimes cries out while crawling, so it could be that, too. Most of those symptoms lessen with Ibuprofen or Tylenol.

Yesterday I noticed 2 blisters oh his right middle finger. They're clear/white in color & maybe a little bigger than a head of a pin. The surrounding skin is bright red & he gets quite upset if you touch them ;). Now today he has one on his left middle finger. He's a thumb sucker, so it's not from sucking, & he's been chewing on his index fingers (teething too?), not his middle.

I'm totally baffled & totally freaked that I did this to him with that stupid MMR shot :(. My other DS has the measles rash on his knees & butt, but otherwise appears fine.

Please don't start this into a vaccination debate. I more am wondering if it's a vaccination reaction or if something more serious is going on. Anyone BTDT?

This does not sound at all like a typical MMR reaction. This looks like hand, foot, and mouth disease which is a virus that causes fever, cold symptoms, and blisters on the hands, feet, and mouth. The rash is also a symptom of HFM disease.

I'm sure you're already at the doctor by now but I hope he's feeling better soon.

    You're right....Hand, Foot, & Mouth.

    Poor thing....

Now we'll just wait & see when Conner gets it (or if he's had it)!
