Blinking

I tried doing a quick search and didn’t see anything. Gavin has been blinking a lot lately. I am not too worried about it but others have noticed it and DH is very concerned and has asked me to call the doc so I have a call in. I am thinking he does it when he is tired. Any other thoughts?

 

Jayden went through this and then one day it just stopped. I was a little concerned about it too and lots of people mentioned it .. but I also had others tell me not to worry. I hope this is the case for you too. He hasn't done it since (he was about 4 when it stopped and he's 7 now).

 

Don't Google it. If you do, you'll see references to scary conditions that your kid probably doesn't have. It's very very common for toddlers to adopt stereotypic movements, such as repeated eye blinking or hand flapping or nose wrinkling, for a short period of time. He'll probably stop doing it in a few weeks or months. Calling attention to it may make it worse.

All that being said, talking to your pediatrician about it can't hurt and is advisable.

 

Yeah, I freaked out when my son started squinting watching TV. I took him in for an eye check where they dilated his eyes. Turns out his eyes are absolutely fine and he's just a weirdo who enjoyed squinting for a couple of weeks.

 

My son goes through this every now and then. I have started to think it is associated with his allergies. A dose of claritin clears it up for him.

 

My son went through this too. After a few days of seeing it, I brought him to the eye dr and he was fine. He was around 3 1/2 when I noticed. After a few months it just stopped. I did notice when he was more tired, he did it more.

 

Jessy did it for a while like pp said it seemed normal and went away.
