Hi. I will be 14 weeks tomorrow. I woke up this am and my underwear was soaked with blood. Not bright red, not really cramping either. I know there is something called a subcorionic(?) hemorrhage and if I could hope for that-that's what I would do. Anyone else this happen to?? This is my first pregnancy after trying for almost 4 years. I am going into docs at 8:30 am...

If you aren't having cramping with the bleeding, my guess would be an SCH. Are you still bleeding or has it seemingly stopped or slowed? Good luck at the doctor's. Please post an update.

I don't blame you a bit for being worried. It took us 11+yrs to get pg with our twins and I bled from beta day through week 10! I was a nervous wreck and checked the TP everytime I went. In fact, I have been checking this time too even though I haven't yet had any bleeding. It just makes you worry so much!

Good idea calling out of work. Your Dr will probably want you to rest for AT LEAST today anyway.

I had bleeding like that when I was pregnant with each of my sons at around that same time. I got checked out and everything was fine. I know it is hard but try not to worry and get some rest. Good luck at the doc and I hope everything is ok! :hug99:

I had heavy bleeding, bright red, at exactly 14 weeks as well. I was hospitalized for 3 days while they tried to figure out why (it had happened with my previous pregnancy as well at 14 weeks). It was determined that because I had placenta previa, I had a marginal abruption that was not affecting my babies. I had several more episodes before my twins were born at 29 weeks (they had TTTS and also PROM at 20 weeks) and today I have 28 month old terrors who get into everything. :) Hopefully it is just a SCH, but even if it's not, we are living proof that there could be no problem to the babies. Good luck!! I'll be praying for you.

I did the exact same thing at 14 weeks...woke up covered in bright red blood...a lot of it! Went to the ER and turned out nothing was wrong. The theory was that I popped a blood vessel from all the growing! I'm almost 22 weeks now and everything is fine. Let us know.

I've had two big bleeds with this pg..one at 5 weeks the other at 7 weeks....lots of blood, clots and tons of cramping..so far everything is okay with my little bean...and yes it's a subchorionic hemmorhage for me...but actually they can't always tell right away if it's really coming from the placenta or if it's a ruptured blood vessel. The u/s tech did tell me that anytime there is blood in the uterus that it will irritate it and that you can feel cramping....so even if you cramp don't panic. If you are not cramping it's actually far more likely to be a low lying placenta that is close to your cervix... this happened to me at 15 weeks with my twins...a huge chunk of baby As placenta came off and I bled for a few hours. The best sign that everything is okay is if the bleeding slows or stops.... that's a good sign... still..hope you can get in to get an u/s ASAP...for your own sanity..

I had the same kind of bleeding when I was 8 weeks, everything was fine, and they did not know either were the bleeding came from. The thought probably from implantation, which got pushed out because my uterus grew.
Good luck, hope all will be well!!!

I had the same thing happen at 14 weeks. We went to the ER and they never could figure out why I had bled.

I will send a prayer your way :hug99:

  13. I had major bleeding 3 times in the 1st and 2nd trimester. They couldnt find a good reason why but each time the babies were fine. It is definately scary and its good youre having it looked at, but in my case I have healthy 2 mo old girls!!

i bled quite a bit right before my 12th week, and i went to the ER and they also couldn't figure out why i was bleeding. the ER doctor told me it could be that the placenta didn't attach itself to hte wall properly. then another doctor told me it could be blood vessels popping cuz i'm expanding so fast. that was a week and 3 days ago, and i'm still spotting (every day), though it's brown, but still... i hate seeing it. if God came down and told me my babies will be perfectly fine and nothing is wrong, i'll bleed every day, i wouldn't care. but not knowing why is the worst.
it seems like quite a few of you have bled at week 14... now i'm scared to hit week 14!

I have spotted pretty much throughout my pregnancy. However, last Monday morning I was scared to death when I woke up and wiped and there were 2 clots. My OB had me come in for an Ultrasound and we heard the heartbeats. Boy what a relief it was when he told us everything looked perfect! An interesting fact that I had never heard before. 1/3 of all pregnant women bleed sometime throughout the pregnancy. I wish I had heard that before and I hope it helps you. My OB still wanted to know if I had any more instances like this so he could be sure there were no problems so I'd still advise you to see your Dr. but hopefully that statistic will make you a little more relaxed. Good Luck!

I had spotting on and off for over a week around that same time, I ended up on modified rest for about a month. All is going well now.

I will keep you in my thoughts that all goes well at the o/b this morning.

Thank you all! After being at the doctors for 3 hours(!) I am home. She saw us right away at 8:30ish and found h/bs right away. Said cervix was closed and that was reassuring. But she wanted an u/s so I had to wait for that. That took forever. But the babies were moving along fine, etc...and it is a SCH. I am off work the rest of the week. The bleeding pretty much stopped by the time I got there. But waking up to what looks like a period is no fun! So thanks for the thoughts and hugs and well wishes! And yes-it does seem like a lot of ppl had bleeding at 14 weeks! Wish I had known sooner too! LOL!

Meg, I am totally relieved after reading your post earlier today on BBC! Thank God! I had that same bleeding. I was hoping it was the same thing for you. Take it easy and try and rest. :hug99: :friends: PM me if you need anything at all.

glad to hear that everything is ok. I know early in my pregnancy i was spotting and i was pulled from work and told to rest (bedrest for 1 week) and it made a big difference. Happy to hear that the bleeding has stopped. Enjoy your rest, catch up on some sleep!!

Glad the babies look fine.. i'm dealing with SCH here too... I found a group on Yahoo groups, of mom's who have SCH...and so far almost all of their stories turn out well... it doesn't always resolve quickly...some mom's deal with bleeding for a long time... they monitor it. It does put you at increased risk for PROM, and PTL...but most of these ladies have had it resolve early enough that it is not an issue for that. Take it easy...hopefully it'll be gone soon. I'm sure if yours is any kind of decent size your peri's will keep a very close eye on it since you have the added risk of twins... but the good thing is that in spite of some of the scary info out there, most of the time things do turn out well. Drink lots of water since any blood accumulated in your uterus is an added irritation..so you don't want dehydration to contribute to that irritation...
