    Im glad to have found this site for support.
    Im 13 weeks pregnant with twins, started gushing blood at week 12...according to the Peri I saw she called it a threatened abortion, her u/s tech called it "subchorionic" (sp) ....I have been on bedrest , until the bleeding stops. I only bleed for 2 days & ever since then it has been dark brown spotting ....

    My question is for those of you who have experienced this , were you on anti b's ? If so do you know what kind and for how long? My fear is rupturing one of the sacs.....This same thing happenned my last pregnancy from a placenta abruption @ 12 weeks , I PROM'd @ 16 weeks, delivered my lil boy @ 28 weeks, and he didnt make it due to his lungs being under developed....

    Im just sick with worry that this could happen again , if Im not on anti b's .....Any advice ??

    Thank you so much [IMG]

    I know there have been many ladies on here with a subchorionic bleed that went on to have healthy babies. Hopefully one of them can give you some input. Hang in there and welcome to TS!

    I had one that started at 6 weeks and went on until about 12-13 weeks. It was mostly healed at that point, so they took me off bedrest. I was never on any medications. My daughter is now almost 4. So they do not all have to end horribly. I will hope for the best for you. {{{hug}}}

    I had a subchorionic bleed of baby A's placenta around 10 weeks. I spotted on and off and then one day when I was at work I felt a gush and I had a whole lot of bright red blood loss. I stayed on strict bedrest for one week and it healed in that time as determined by the u/s. You don't need antibiotics for a subchorionic bleed just old fashioned bedrest to let it resolve on it's own. You are not at a risk for infection with a subchorionic bleed but with PROM you would be. A subchorionic bleed is alot like a cut on your arm in the sense that it needs to clot, scab over and heal and this just takes time. Don't worry too much and keep yourself well hydrated. It's scary but if your babies are fine now chances are they will continue on that path because as my OB put it subchorionic bleeds are all or nothing type situations. Hope this helps and calms your worries.

    I also had a subchorionic bleed around the same time that you are at.
    I was told not to lift anything - not to stand for long periods of time and to take it easy and drink lots of water!! as a pp said subchorionic bleeds are all or nothing situations. they will keep a close eye on you and hopefully it will resolve itself. My doctors told me that it wasn't caused by anything I did or didn't do and there wasn't anything I could do at that point either it would get better or worse My bleeding also was gushes of red blood - that would get better if I sat and gush again when I stood. It finally turned to brown old blood and then went away.
    it took a couple of weeks. antibiotics will not help.
    You are in my thoughts and prayers!!! [IMG]

    thank you everyone for your replies....I called my ob again today & he still would not prescribe anti b's [IMG] I know they wont help with the bleeding to go away , but it will help with any infection from the old blood....

    I do feel a lil better to hear of your happy endings

    Thanks [IMG]
