I'm 33wks pregnant with identical twins. Last night after DH and I had sex I was bleeding. This has not happened before it was very scary. There was blood in the toilet when I used to restroom right after and it was about the size of a few quarters. Then every time I wiped I got more. Well I started having strong contractions for about two hours afterwards (which my doctor had said could be normal at my last appointment), they were four minutes apart. Luckily those went away by about 3am and bleeding stopped around 5am. I haven't been walking around so I don't know what will happen once i'm up and about today. Sorry if TMI for anyone. Anyways, what do you guys think? Should I be worried ? My doctor said as long as babies were moving 5-10times an hour not to really worry about bleeding. I called when the office opened this morning and they didn't act worried at all. Said if no more bleeding or no more than five contractions an hour then not to worry. I thought spotting was always bad especially with twins. Not sure. Any advice would be wonderful. Thanks! Who would go to the hospital when DH gets home anyways? He wont get off work for another 7hrs, but i'd hate to be dilated at this point and not know it!

I would defintely go to the Dr. before your DH gets home if you continue to bleed. If you are not continuing to bleed or experiencing anything out of the norm I would still go get checked this evening when your DH is home.
I always felt better to err on the side of caution when I was pregnant, better to keep everyone safe :good:
Remember that your Dr's are paid to be there for you!!

There was another thread from a 21 weeker just posted on this topic. If your bleeding truly is stopped and you are having no cramping or contractions I wouldn't worry too much. If you continue to bleed or cramp or have contractions then I would call your doctor again. Doctors don't get too worked up about blood that just shows up on toilet paper... if it's enough that you need a pad of any sort, then you definitely need to be checked out. Blood during any pregnancy, twin or not, can be normal, especially after sex. But a continual flow of blood even slight is not normal and should be looked at just in case. I would take it easy, maybe put yourself on pelvic rest for a week or so just to let anything irritated in there heal up. And then use caution if you resume intimacy with your dh. Things can get really sensitive in there!! But if it's coming from your uterus and not just from sex you'll probably know because it'll continue regardless of the pelvic rest!!

Hi all, thanks for the wonderful advice. I did finally go in yesterday to put my mind at ease, thinking that I would be sent home feeling silly. I got in there and they monitored babies and did a cervical check. She said it was very soft and that it was right there, she didn't even have to reach for it. On her notes on the computer she put that it was at a -2... is that low for 33wks? Well, the doctor put me on modified bedrest which i've found to be hard today because i'm home alone with the kids. I think that is why she offered me to stay in the hospital last night. I had to get a steroid shot and need to go back in today for another one. I also got medicine to stop contractions when i'm getting 3 or more an hour. Glad that I held out until 33wks, now just worried about having them too early and the NICU because the closest one to us is 2hrs away.

The only -2 I've ever heard of has to do with the baby's 'station' in relation to your pelvis. 0 means the baby is engaged and level with your pelvis... +1 and +2 means the baby is moving down into the birth canal. So -2 means your baby A is still fairly high in your uterus and not really engaged. That's normal though so don't panic! The other numbers she could've mentioned would be dilation... and that's in cm, and also thinning or effacement..and that is in %tage. So 100% effaced is normally what happens when a woman is significantly dilated and her cervix is very thin. Most moms start thinning ahead of time, but if your doctor only mentioned 'softening' then you probably aren't thinning significantly yet. I think you are doing a great job and will probably hold them in for a while yet!
