Bleeding Again After Lochia Stopped

At about 3 1/2 weeks after the c-section my bleeding had stopped completely. I was down to wearing no pads. Then two days ago I had a gush of fluid and blood. It was bright red. Then it stopped. Again today I was resting and felt very wet. I had more blood and it was bright red. Has anyone ever experienced this? Am I overdoing it? Or might there be something wrong?

 

Sounds totally normal to me. I was not completely done bleeding until after 6 weeks. 3 weeks seems really early to be done bleeding. I'm sure it's nothing BUT if you feel uneasy; call doctor. Also make sure you are still taking your prenatals w/ added iron (That's what Peri told me when I freaked I was losing too much blood.) Peri told me that if I'm soaking more than a pad per hour to be concerned.

 

I bled off and on for 12 weeks.

I agree with this. If you have a bad feeling, call the doctor.

 

It could be normal, or not. Do you have a fever at all? I had a fever and on and off bleeding w/ clots. They told me that it was fine, but it wasn't. I started hemorrhaging and had to have an emergency D&C. It was pretty scary. This probably is NOT the case for you, but if you are worried call your doc.

 

I had something similiar. At six weeks, the bleeding was almost gone, then I had several days of much heavier bleeding. Not more than one pad an hour, but definitely heavier than one pad a day. My dr said that the placenta site can form a kind of scab and this was probably that scab shedding.

Definitely call your doctor if you are worried.

 

I think you are probably overdoing it. I had this happen too, and I was definitely overdoing it! I needed a reminder that I had just given birth, and my body needed time to heal, and that was it! Take care of yourself. :hug99:
