Black beans

My pedi recommended black beans for the babies. They have lots of fiber and protein and they are easy to pick up. They are a huge mess in our house, though. Check out the babies after dinner:

Too cute! How do you give them the beans? Just let them go at it? I want to try beans here...we've only done refried and they LOVE those!

 

Beans are so good for them! I did the black beans too, then found that kidney made less of a mess - and my boys eat a TON of kidney beans!!!

The girls love black beans too! They've had them wrapped in a tortilla w/ cheese where I do some drop-in care. They've also eaten them plain. I drain them before I give them to the girls. You could also try rinsing them off.

The one thing I don't like about them is the high sodium content and I have the hardest time finding the low sodium ones around here!!!!

They also like garbonzo beans/chick peas! No mess!

Black beans are a hit here too! I have taken to rinsing them several times to try to reduce the mess. They now eat them with a spoon, so that has helped too.

We rinse them off in a collander and heat them up with a slice of cheese on top. It's still messy lol they have cheesy fingers and faces afterwards. Cute pics!

So funny! I would try rinsing them, too. I know i rinse the canned raveoli's and it helps with the mess a lot. Mine also love kidney and garbanzo beans. thanks for sharing

 

DUH! Why didn't I think of rinsing the darn things! :fool:

I'll get kidney beans and give them a try. We're always open to new foods.
