Ok, my girls are 16 months and for the most part, pretty easy going and happy kids. But I've noticed they are doing something new lately. Headbanging. Isn't this weird and not normal? Sometimes they bang their heads on the floor or wall when they are ticked off or throwing a fit, that maybe I could understand. But they even do it when they are happy and goofing around! Its not constant but its almost like they want to see what it feels like to bang their heads on things. I think this is just odd. Any input??

anthony did this when he was that age and got bored with it after just a few months. It worried us too, but in our case it was just odd toddler stuff ;)

Same here. Jack started it, and you know, monkey see monkey do, so Ella started as well right around that age. On walls, on the floor, mostly just to check it out right around that age. They got over it quickly. Hope yours do as well!

Yes, normal. My DS did it all the time when he didn't get what he wanted. It did not last very long!

My twin brothers did this when they were younger. They would bang their head on everything when they were upset. My poor mother was constantly explaining why they had all these "wounds" on their heads. i know that she took them to the Dr. and the doc said it was normal. They will be 20 in a couple months, and it doesn't look as though it did any permanent damage ! :p

Yep, mine do it in their high chairs and car seats. They think it's fun. If I ignore it, they usually stop. I think they do it because they know it will get attention, it's in the same catagory as throwing things and screaming real loud and shrieky.

Braeden does this, mostly when throwing a tantrum. He also headbutts his poor brother when mad!!! i am a little worried, but apparently his uncle(my DH's brother) did the same thing.

Yep, same here. Bryce has bee doing this A LOT lately, and Chloe will try to mimic him, but she doesn't really do it too much. He gets really bad when he's mad or throwing a tantrum. Either it's head banging, or biting whatever he can get his teeth on to as hard as he can. Then he gets madder because it hurts his teeth if he's biting, oh, say the hutch or the shelves.

Mine do it too, although mostly when they don't want to get in the high chair or car seat. Hopefully it won't last too long.

DS does this when he is throwing a tantrum or doesn't get what he wants. You would think that he would figure out not to do it since it probably hurts.
