We started the biter biscuits and puffs around 7 months. My babies tend to get chokable (is that a word) pieces off of the biter biscuits so I make sure to watch them closely even now. The puffs dont really dissolve IMO but rather just turn mushy. Its not instant and takes some gumming to mush them up so make sure to watch them with em. We have also just recently started giving them the freeze dried fruits made for babies (dont remember the brand) and they love those too. They kinda turn to mush in their mouths like the puffs do.

Our pedi recommended Cheerios and puffs around 8 months. I actually started with them just over 7 months and they did well. I preferred to start with the puffs because they melt so quickly so I figured the choke factor would be much less.

Our pedi told us we could start with cheerios, overcooked pasta, puffs, mashed potatoes now. I have given Liam some Cheerios and some puffs. He is picking the puffs up and dropping them, so I will put 1 or half of one in his mouth. He kind of mushes them around with a funny look on his face. With the twins, I think they were 7 months when I started with them.

We started with the Puffs at 7 months. They dissolve pretty quickly when they get in their mouths. I started off by giving them a 1/2 until they got used to chewing. You could try the biscuits and wafers too, just watch out for chunks that they bite off.

    Happy 7 months!!

We started puffs at 6 1/2 months, Cheerios at 7 months and now at 8 months they had pasta, melon, pear, sweet potatoe, pancake, bread (that's lunch), banana, deli meat and cheese ... we're just trying a lot of stuff. Watermelon and tofu was not successful but we'll try again especially the water melon. My oldest was off baby food (jar & fresh) at 9 months and I am aiming for the same with the twins, and I think we'll make it. They're doing well. Having said all this, my kids seem to be fairly advanced when it comes to eating. I am still a little anxious with larger pieces / cookies, because my kids tend to put everything in their mouth at once (e.g. wagon wheels). They just love to eat!

Heather, I've tried puffs (breaking them in half) and they just sit there in thier mouths, they don't know what to do with them, half the time they spit them out. And I did a chunkier puree of sweet tato and Con puked on it, so ... guess mine aren't ready yet!!! I still try puffs every few days to see.
