I've noticed both of my boys have chewed on their crib rails, the thick ones on the ends, and the paint is chipped too. What the heck, I just hope its not lead paint...what would you do?

My son does that too, but my daughter doesn't. Sometimes Brad has tiny paint chips stuck to his cheek. I was very worried about it at first, but I did some research and all modern crib manufacturers are required to use non-toxic paint.
I don't think there's a way to stop him except maybe provide him with teethers in his crib. My son usually throws those over the side of his crib after about 30 seconds though. Anyway, I don't think there's anything to worry about. Crib paint is not supposed to be harmful.

Well that makes me feel better, I was HOPING they wouldn't allow lead paint on cribs but I thought that about toys too... i have put little chewy things in the crib too but they just love to throw them out!!! Oh well I can live with bite marks.. Thanks, glad I'm not the only one :)

I bought this product called gummi crib rails...or something like that. It's a plastic that sticks to the crib, and they can chew on it.

You might consider it a "safety problem" (but I havent found one yet) but you could also use those little ring links and attach a teether to that on one end, and put a ring link around a crib rail, that way if they throw it, its still attached.

apparantly i gave birth to two beavers, cuz they have taken CHUNKS out of their cribs! i tied receiving blankets all the way around their cribs. not exactly pretty, but it's working :pardon:

They do make crib rail teethers, just these little plastic sleeve things that go over the rails of the cribs, and soft for baby teeth. They are not too expensive, I don't think....I'll probably end up getting some of those, when babies start standing (we registered for them, but didn't get them).

One Step Ahead sells crib rail teethers. DS does the same thing, but I don't really care, I figure we'll just donate the crib eventually anyway.
