They have been getting closer and closer in appearance since they were born, and i have been freaking out just a tiny bit about how we are going to end up telling them apart. i went searching for birthmarks on them during bathtime last night, hoping they would be in different places, and found them to be identical also...they each have a red triangle " stork bite " on the back of the neck. i was wondering if this was something common for identicals, or if frats have it this way also.

Mine also are identical and they both have those same marks on the backs of their necks but I always assumed it was from their bibs rubbing there. They always have bibs on because they spit up a lot. Mine look a lot alike but somehow I can always tell them apart even if nobody else can. I do get them mixed up occassionaly and it scares me because I might find out in 10 years or so that I was calling them by the wrong names the whole time lol.

Both of my girls had the "Stork bite" as well. I had never heard of it before and actually asked my pedi about it, and she explained to me what it was. One of my girls has a birthmark under her right arm, but the other one does not.

Can you paint their toes? Maybe that would help alleviate the fear of getting them mixed up.

My girls both have a stork bite on the back of their necks but Jordyn has a very small hemangioma on the right side of her head (about the size of a pencil eraser) and that is how we used to tell them apart. We also painted a toenail purple on Kalia. :)

Mine are ID but really easy to tell apart (see weights in my siggy  ). They both have hemangiomas. BK's is on the top of her head and Aurora's is on her ear.

I would paint a toe nail if you're worried.

Well I have b/g but wanted to chime in that my little girl has an "angel kiss" on the back of her head too, and the nurse told me it's really common in girls! Dunno why! :D

Interesting both of my ID boys have storkbites on the back of their necks too! However one of the boys has a birthmark on his right leg. At least we have that one birthmark. :)

hehe.. I thought that the marks on the back of Maya's neck was from her bib wearing on her neck too!! lol.. Mine are identical and we are using the weight difference as the way we are telling them apart. They are only less then a 1 lb apart, but Aurora has a bigger head, everybody jokes with us, saying that she is going to have a complex because of her having a big head :D

I thought most mothers of Identicals thought their kids looked totally different. I guess there are some Identical babies that are more Identical then others. My guys have so many differences that it's never been an issue. My boys both have birth marks or moles in different areas, they only share one Mongolia spot on their bums.

Before my girls were born I was very scared I would not be able to tell them apart...........as time went on I just have a momma sense about it. They are Id and very similar in height and weight and NO birthmarks on either one. So i painted toe nails in the begining and as they got older I just knew who was who. The only difference that evolved was hiw their hair grew in. Best wishes

The only time I couldn't tell my two apart was at 3am. They have very different shaped faces. Luckily Ryan has a hemangioma on his back and I was able to do a quick check. Before they were born, I planned on painting a toenail or making a dot on an arm w/ a Sharpie. You can also assign a color to a child. X is always in pink, Y is always in purple or even just do it with socks. A family I used to nanny for used blue for Drew b/c it rhymed and the other baby wore red or green, whatever was available.

I haven't looked at the back of my girls necks. But Dani has a birthmark on her knee and Ellie doesn't. Most of them time I can tell them apart by just looking at their faces, but sometimes I do have to double check.

My boys have the red spots on the back of their necks as well. They don't have any other birthmarks, but their heads and faces are shaped so differently that it is easy to tell them apart.

Both of my ID girls have stork bites too! Our pedi noticed it on one at their first appointment, the other did not have it. We noticed on the other about 2 weeks later. They are both on the tops of their heads. Right now their heads are a bit of a different shape, Abby has a rounder head and Sammi has a narrower face. That's how we tell them apart.

Stork bites and angel kisses I think are fairly common and could fade as time goes on, don't know if that is a true birthmark. Lucas has a birthmark on his upper leg that Micah does not have. This helped many people after I told them about it. Now Lucas how 2 freckles, one his eye and one by his mouth but I have noticed Micah starting to develop them as well. Probably not good as they will not be asked to drop their pants to find the actual birthmark

Both my (ID) boys had stork bites. However, one boy has a birthmark on his back (identical to one I have on my hip) and the other has a birthmark on his chest (identical to the one DH has on his chest).
