Birthday Party Ideas

My little man is turning three and I was wondering what are some good ideas for some games to play with 3&4 year olds. I have no idea. Any that you have done with your parites that have been a hit?

Also, if you did a theme would you mind sharing?

I am totally lost, but want to plan a nice party for him.

The biggest hit at our 3rd birthday party this year was a pinata. Thanks to input from people on this list, I got a pinata that you break by pulling strings rather than hitting with a bat. It was a lot of fun for both the kids and the watching adults. We had a wide range of kids coming (2-8 years old) and I was worried about having the kids swinging a bat blindfolded. We didn't have any other organized games. We lucked out that it was a gorgeous day and most of the kids played outside with bubbles, chalk, our playstuff (climbing cube, etc.), and lots and lots of balls we scattered out in the yard. I might have organized more stuff but wasn't sure what to do with kids of such a wide age range. My boy/girl twins are big into Dora so that's what we did as a theme. We went to a birthday party last Spring for another set of boy/girl twins and they had a Princess/Pirate theme which was really cute.

 

The pinata was a big hit here too. We also had a clown and a bouncy castle which they LOVED. The clown painted faces and made balloon animals for the kids and also did a little magic show.

 

Pinata! We did that too. We also had the noise makers that blow out. If you can stand it, the kids really love it.

 

What does he like to do? Does he have a favorite "thing" (cars/ trains/baseball...) or favorite character? Let us know! I think i can help if I have a better idea what he likes.

He loves cars and trains! He is all boy! He also really likes animals. Some of the characters he likes are Mickey Mouse and gang.
