    Hi,
I haven't been to very many kids birthday parties, so sorry if this is a dumb question. My twins were invited to the neighbors 2 year old birthday party and the theme of the party is "Thomas Trains." So I'm going to give the boy two Thomas gifts from my twins, but I'd like to give the mom a gift receipt in case she gets duplicates of the gifts I give her son (it's going to be a big party). Is it rude to include a gift receipt so she can return the gift if she wants to? If it's not rude, where should I put the gift receipt? Attached to the present? In a separate envelope? Or should I just give her the gift receipt later, after the party? I just don't want to be rude.

    Thanks.

a gift reciept is never rude....I think you could tape it to the back of one of the toys...and let the mom know, when they are opening the gift....if you are not going to be present, the give her a little thank you note prior to the party with the gift reciept included. Thank her for inviting your boys to the party. That is an easy way.

A gift receipt is definitely not rude, I think it is rude not to give one! I always tape mine right to the gift box/packaging it belongs to.

I always give a gift receipt, I usually tape it to the inside of the bag, or hand it to the mother in an envelope. If its in the bag I always mention it to her.

I can tell u we would have appreciated gift receipts on our girls birthday when we received 4 of the same thing.

I agree with pp, gift receipts are great and I usually tape them to the box. Stores have made it so much harder to exchange things. In a few years, you won't be buying birthday presents, by about 8 or 9 its all gift cards - you just have to decide between Target, Toys R US or my favorite Barnes and Noble (parents like that more then kids ;) )

I always include a gift receipts with gifts! I just tape it to the box before I wrap it or put it in a bag. Definitely not rude at all, I am thankful when gift receipts are included in our gifts as well, it makes exchanges (if necessary) much easier.

I would just hand the gift receipt to the mom or put it in a seperate card like pps said. I've had gift receipts attached to boxes or presents that get torn by the child opening the present. Just better to give it directly to mom. Depending on how the receipt is printed, if it doesn't have something identifying the specific present on it, I write it on so the people know which present it belongs to.

I agree with this. Normally (for an adult or older kid), I would tape it on the box or in the box, but with little ones, you run the chance of it being torn up in the gift opening process. I would just give it to the mom in an envelope before you leave.

I am joining the NOT giving a gift receipt is rude club. Normally I would tape it to the gift, but since it is a child opening the gifts I would give it to the mom in an envelope.

    Thank you everyone!!!

I'm not sure if I'll be there when the gifts are opened (not sure of the party plans), so I bought a card to give to the mother and I'll put the gift receipt in this card for her. Thanks so much for all your responses!!!
