    Hi
We will be moving over here in 1 month! :D So can 1 year olds have chocolate cake or icing for that matter or is it better to stay with yellow or white? We have no food allergies in the family.

    And
We have started on 1 oz of whole milk and will add 1 oz until they are on whole milk totally on thier b-day. But they are not eating a lot of table food. Someone said that whole milk is fine if they are getting most of thier nutrients from table food, but the gilrs are not they are still mostly on baby food. Should I stop the whole milk?
    TIA

I think it's okay to start adding in whole milk if your pedi has said it's okay. Are they eating any table food? I wouldn't switch over to all whole milk until they are eating more table food though, but a little is not going to hurt them. If you think they can handle it just start adding a little more table food slowly.

As for the cake, I've always gotten/made yellow or white for their b-days, mainly because most people will eat that more. They both did have some chocolate cake though on their b-day, the cake I got was 1/2 and 1/2, so they did have some. I don't think chocolate cake is a no-no, but I've just always done yellow/white. Now if we are some place and they have chocolate cake we do give them some.

any flavor/color of cake and icing should be fine w/o known allergies.

The rule of thumb w/ cow's milkis they should not be on cow's milk exclusively if they aren't also eating mostly table food.
If they're on some table food, it's fine to also have some cow's milk, but if you go to cow's milk only {as their form of milk} and they're NOT on table food mostly they won't get enough vitamins/minerals.

I would have avoided chocolate cake just because chocolate is so hard to wash out -- and this is one time you want to see them covered in food! :D

We did Chocolate Cake for their first birthday.

As for milk, we switched cold turkey at 11 1/2 months, but mine were one all table food by 10 months.

I am planning to do half and half... good compromise.

I made them each a small 2-layer smash cake, one layer was chocolate and one was yellow. They do occasionally eat chocolate too.

I switched mine completely to whole milk by 12.5 months, but they were on all table foods at 10 months. I'd ask your pedi about the transition if they aren't on table foods yet.
