I feel like I am a bad mother. I didn't do anything for my girls on their birthday. They turned 2 on June 30th. Dh was out of town working, and I was sick with the stomach flu for a week. :( So, now I am planning a beach party for them at our house. Here's the invitation that I made tonight. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b181/Tam...yinvitation.jpg
I need any cute ideas that you can think of and food ideas. DS has already requested a shrimp platter. Other food ideas that I've thought about is a fruit tray, sweet and sour meatballs with pineapple bits in the sauce, grilled chicken skewers, some type of salad, veggies and dip, chips, and cake/ice cream. For the cake, I want to have someone make Elmo and friends at the beach. I am going to buy the tropical wading pool at TRU. I think it has a palm tree and flamingo in the middle of it. We have a sand box but may get a bigger plastic pool and fill it with sand. I am going to get plenty of beach balls to have around the yard for the kids to play with. I will have some beach music playing and leis for everyone. As for favors, I was thinking a small beach pail with sunglasses, and their beach ball to take home with them. What am I forgetting??? Any other ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

That does sound like a grea party. The only other thing I could think of was grilled pinapple skewers. I think I saw them on Good Eats not to long ago, and they looked yummy. :) I can probably find the recipie if you like, just let me know. :)
