    Hi Ladies,
Well here is my birth story. Sorry it took me so long to post it.

Well I went to the Hospital for my scheduled induction on January 30th. I got there at 6am and they were so busy they made me wait until 11am to start the patocin. I came in 1.5 cm dilated and 50 % effaced. at 5 pm that day I was sill 1.5 and 50%. so they took me off the meds, let me eat, gave me sleeping pills.
So then came day number to of my induction. They started me on the patocin at 7am and i was on it until 5:30pm and again I failed to progress.
So i was given 3 options.
1- Go home and try again next week
2- Stay in the hospital and keeping trying to be induced
    3- have a c-section

The nurses that were attending to me were dead-set against me having a c-section and actually drove me to tears. They kept telling me that having a c-section was giving up and that the recovery would be horrible.

well my husband and I discussed it and we decided to have a c-section the next day. At that point every part of me hurt. I was an emotional mess from not having gone into labor and I just wanted to meet my boys.

I had a c-section at 1200 noon on Feb 1st. Samuel Hunter was born at 12:23 weighing in at 5 lbs 7 oz and 18.5 inches long. Antonio Atlas was born at 12:25, and weighed in at 5 lbs 8 oz and 19.5 inches long.

    Both had NO NICU time.

We were in the hospital until the 4th.

Advice for mom's who may have a c-section. Yes take the meds so that you feel better. but don't do like I did and do so much that you end up making your recovery take longer. I felt so good while medicated that i didn't act like I'd just had surgery. I ended up getting an infection. I had to get off the meds just so that I'd feel bad and would be forced to take it easier. Let me tell you.. it is really hard to go from taking care of all your babies needs to having to rely on other help. I felt like a horrible mother. But a week of taking it much easier and now I feel much better and I'm healing. and as a bonus I've learned how to accept help.

One more thing. If your babies start losing too much weight, ask your pediatrician about putting your babies on higher calorie formula. My boys each lost half a lb after they were born and so our pediatrician put them on Similac Neosure (it has 22 calories an once v. 20 calories an once) This formula really helped them put the weight back on.

Hope all goes well for everyone and thank you for all the support

Congrats - I'm sorry it was a little hectic there in the beginning! But everything seems to have turned out great! I hear you on the meds for the c-section...

You take care of yourself and those precious boys...

Congrats on the boys, and thanks for the advise about the c-section.
Hope everything is going well for everyone. Nice to see that both babies were born healthy and at such great weights!

    Thanks for sharing,

Congrats on a great birth story.

I had a similar experience with my daughter's c/s and would definitely second the suggestion to take the meds. I felt pretty good on the meds and would ultimately do too much and suffer at the end of the day.

Why is it so hard to accept help when we need it??? I've had a terrible time since my surgery 2 weeks ago. I can't lift anything heavier than the babies and I have a two year old. It has been so hard to just ask something simple of my mother in law like...can you lift this for me...or pick something up off the floor. Anyway...

Congratulations on your little ones and glad you are feeling better. Take care of yourself and still don't try to be supermom.

I've been thinking about you. I am so sorry to hear about the infection. Its okay to get help from others and you should never feel guilty about getting help. I am glad the boys are putting on weight. You are right about the Neosure it works great. Our twins were on it for about two months. I hope to see you in the FY forum.

Congratulations on the birth of your boys! I'm glad everything ended up turning out all right and you and the boys are healthy and home. [IMG] My girls were also on high-calorie formula but our pedi gave us a sheet with detailed instructions about how to mix normal formula so that it was 22 cal/oz and how to mix formula into my pumped breastmilk so that was 22 cal/oz as well. As you saw, that extra 6 calories per feeding really made a difference in their weight gain and they packed on the pounds. [IMG] Congrats again!

I'm sorry about your infection and the nurses. Shame on them.

It sounds like it was all more than worth it though. Your babies seem to be doing great. Congrats!
